We can all agree SURELY

I'm just trying to avoid the rag arrogance that some people seem to have acquired nowadays.

I certainly don't think that we have a god given right to win every game, even though some on here do. I also think that teams bust a gut to do well against us now, i.e. Wigan, Burnley, Birmingham etc. And the point about the likes of Burnley and Wigan beating the rags and Chelsea respectively are very relevant and shouldn't be dismissed.

Rome wasn't built in a day and we're still a work in progress. Last season and earlier this season people were talking about Bridge and Richards/Zabaleta being fantastic, and now they're our weak links so work that one out.

It's only my opinion, and having supported City for 40 years or thereabouts I've known plenty of bad times and believe me, we are on the verge of some very good times. It's a shame some people are so impatient.

thats a very niave view in my opinion, yes wigan and burnley did beat chelsea and the rags but you will always get upsets in football the difference is good sides will not drop points to these sides week in week out, even teams like villa and spurs would not drop points to burnley, wigan fulham birmingham within a month

Stop going on about fucking Rome!!! FFS!!! Rome was a completely seperate and irrelevant empire for crying out loud, we are a football team, if you actually had the sense to try and compare what we need to do to a 50's Real Madrid, or a 70-80's Liverpool, but you forget that both of those were already established top clubs, you also forget that Madrid only have and have had consistent competition from Barcelona, and their famous owner Santiago Bernabeu Yeste helped create the UEFA Champions League, so they have top level history stemming over half a century. Liverpool appointed Bill Shankly, and was followed by Bob Paisley, and both lead Liverpool to astounding success over a long period of stable leadership, but Liverpool were one of the top dogs and it so happened they found two great managers, do we have that, it's a big question.

My point is that Liverpool and Real Madrid were already established clubs and you have to look at the timing of things. We are in a far more congested and competitive market fighting the already established names of teams who have trophy cabinets as big as our club store, we have far more competition than they did when they achieved success. The Roman Empire came off the back of the Roman Republic, it wasn't built in a day, it was built as a structure to dominate over several centuries, it came about at the opportune time. Look at Hitler, he wanted a comparable scenario but at the end of the day his rivals were bigger than him, and beat him. City have bigger rivals, and in Mark Hughes do we have a man capable of bringing us to the top table? we haven't come about at the best time we could have, but we need to act fast, because UEFA are changing rules and we need to be in a position to cope and still be competitive at the top level, we don't have the time the Roman Empire had, not that it's relevant, but now we have an opportunity and we have to take it NOW, not in 5 or 10 years time, by then it could be too late.

The structure is vital, but ours is a combination of 2 eras, the previous of which has been decimated by the man appointed by it, for a new structure that requires experienced leadership and a strong structure, but it's been built on the regime of a management team appointed to satisfy the requirements of the old City, who have no experience of what our club now demands. I hope we succeed, but for the life of me I don't understand how we will on recent yet sustained form.

That nothing less than a win against Hull next Saturday would be appalling.

We have had 6 draws on the trot, some good, some bad. We need to get back to winning ways asap and Hull at home is the game to do this, ater that in the league we are home to Chelsea which will be a real test.

We have failed to seize the initiative while some of our closest rivals for a top 4 spot have been floundering, defeat at home, or even a draw, against Hull would be totally unacceptable.

I do not believe anyone can disagree with this assessment, surely not. Am I wrong?

Does anyone want to stick their head over the precipice and state 6 draws, followed by a defeat or draw to Hull is tolerable and acceptable given the quality of our squad and the massive investment made by our owners. In my mind nothing less than a win and a CLEAN SHEET is acceptable.

Here is your chance to disagree before we know the result.

A win and a clean sheet by the way is what I fully expect we will get, with momentum and confidence on a high for the Chelsea game; as we will be in the Semi-Final of the Carling Cup by the time we play them.

draw to hull go out of the cup and lose to chelsea and spurs this is what will happen

and hughes wont get sacked

Yeah, we need to avoid this slump of one defeat all season.

Appalling isn't it?

Being undefeated means fuck all, you could draw every single game all season and be undefeated and still get relegated with that form.

lol good reply plus 3 wins and 3 defeats be a hell of a lot better than 6 draws

Agree, I expect a win against Hull, a win against Arsenal & would be delighted with a win against Chelsea, but will be happy with a draw.

Absolutely.

If it isn't, though, doesn't mean everyone should up the monging and be calling for Hughes' head. He's the manager, he's been given targets and we evaluate at the end of the season.

6 points from a possible 18 is appalling.
The last home win against Wolves was a skin of the teeth job.
