We don't work hard enough.

Agree with this completely. No way that rag side was better than us even with Van Persie, and no way that Chelsea side were better than us either. We've given away two titles because the players thought the manager had hurt their feelings or thought they deserved a season off.

True.

There is a correlation in our defeats this season; Our opponents had better defensive shape, organisation and ran a lot more than us in pressing us, denying space and time on the ball.

Then going forward they attacked in numbers, were quick and direct with their passing and clinical in their finishing.

Basic fundamentals.

You missed the bit about, we stood off and watched them.

The problem is, and I've said it countless times, is those supposed experts in Sports Science and Conditioning. Every bloody game we play, regardless of need or situation, substitutes occur on a pre-programmed basis, all because some self justifying GPS monitoring twerp is dictating to the manager, who can play, how long they run for, what intensity their runs are for and likelihood of injury.

Does my bloody head in it really does. We'll see it tomorrow with Kompany; if the scientists let him start, he'll get 60 minutes max. That means the fact we start with players we're obligated to substitute, regardless of genuine need, means other players have to play within themselves and not run themselves to the point where they genuinely need to be substituted due to tiredness.

Tomorrow Pellegrini will be aware that Kompany, Aguero and possibly Silva won't do 90, that means that others need to contain energy expenditure from the start, meaning we often start and can seldom exceed a pace otherwise known as ponderous.

if the scientists let him start.

Nail on the head there, I think we're being soft re-introducing players. Aguero says he feels fine after a knock and then he misses the next 4 - 5 games, shocking City. Same with Kompany, not playing through strains means they'll be continually on the treatment table.

It's probably more smarter than harder.

Positioning , set up ,transition form defence into attack , mistakes that allow other sides opportunities to score and knowing the right ball to play and when and composure when on goal are all things we can and should be doing better.

As for graft , tracking back , pressing and outrunning again we certainly have players who are not adapt at that side of the game but by and large if we did the smart things better some of this wouldn't be needed as much as it otherwise would.

Mentally we are not as ruthless as a side looking to dominate should be as well and you wonder how much some of our squad hate losing or dropping points sometimes.
