We Missed Nigel De Jong...

anyone who watches City and doesn't see how much De Jong is core to everything that this team does is watching a different game to me, and it's not football

This ... Cahill and Fellaini got free run, which they wouldn't have done had Nige been there.

NDJ frustrates me and many others because he seems extremely negative.....passes sideways or backwards nine times out of ten. However, he very rarely gives the ball away and the contrast between a City team with him in the side and a City team with Milner in there instead was like night and day. Milner's passing is absolutely woeful and as a team we are much better off with NDJ in there.

No doubt we missed him. In all fairness the finish for the second goal was superb (though Zab may have taken him out first), but we hold our shape much better with NDJ and the first goal simply wouldn't have happened.

He makes our defence look far better than it is, he's the 5th man and disrupts 1/3 of the balls/attacks that would get to face our defence otherwise. Also he's always in the mix when the balls in our box. K Toure was shown up last night and for me we should be looking at trying boetang with kompany.

Also as pointed out without him YYT was playing far deeeper and therefore tevez was dropping back more, exactly what we didn't need last night.

No doubt , he would have been in there taking care of cahill and dominating the midfield as usual . He is just so crucial to the team , nobody can do the job he does better , he hold the shape of the team brilliantly and wouldn't have taken any shit of fellaini or chaill yesterday . He is the best defensive midfield player in the world , I dare to say . It was obvious he was missed today , milner couldn't occupy the role that NDJ plays and it showed , the tackles weren't there and for somebody who is meant to be a very good central midfield player he didn't live up to that title .

Absolutely missed him, Nige sets our tempo for the game, we missed is sharp short passing into the pockets and it is no suprise that Kompany had his worst game by far this season with Nige not being there as an outlet. Also Everton would not have had the areas to break into early on as he would have picked off the runners or passes.

That's the positive bit done, however i wish our fans would not jump up and cheer when he puts in a stupid challenge on the halfway line, i know he played the ball but was it neccessary when leading 3-0 and going into injury time, i knew at the time that it was cost us big time in this game.

Who are the defensive midfielders you are comparing him to then?

We had 67% we did dominate the midfield

As probably one of the last people to have been convinced about De Jong and someone who has criticised him a heluvalot, I have to say now I realise how he is vital, our defense seems to implode without him & our midfield seem to turn to jelly.
