We wont win the Europa League

Let's wait for the draw first. In 24 hours time we will know our next 2 potential opponents in this competition.

That said, I don't think it will make any difference to our line ups - Lazio or Wisla, Ajax or Salzburg, Mancini wants to win. The players want to win. It's not as simple as forfeit one European game to win 3 points in the league, and how shite woudl we feel if we fielded an understrength Europa team and didn't win, then didn't win in the league with the 'rested' players?.

We are probably, and should certainly see ourselves as, equal or better than every other team in the Europa League. They'll all want our scalp too - up to us to make sure we perform with pride. Whilst I can see Zaba, Hargreaves and Rasak getting a game in the next couple of European games, they are still first team players capable of top drawer performances.

I think you're severely underestimating our second string side.

They could go far.

We'll be favourites in almost every game we'll play and we're favourites to win the whole competition. You don't see many poor bookies knocking about.

Mancini said we would try to win it. It is important that Manchester City win trophy's
Of course it's important but when the squad is still involved in 4 comps, squad rotation is what's needed, and no doubt Mancini will priotise the importance of the comps involved in to which players should be used. So far, (touch wood) we have been lucky with injuries, but a big part of this has been down to Mancini and staff to assess how much gametime it is safe to play and then rest players in rotating with others.

Personally. I would really like to see City go all out to win for several reasons. Firstly, a trophy is a trophy, and Bucharest could be extremely memorable. Secondly, because of who else is in the competition. Thirdly, after CL exit I believe to win Europa would be a real statement of European intent and help build confidence/momentum for hopefully CL next season. I think rotating the squad as we do it now could see City progress but perhaps a convincing performance in the first legs could allow more fringe players to participate. However, I'm keen to get January out of the way succesfully as PL has to be utmost priority. Would like Ajax or Lazio in next round!

But our 'weakened' side is still very good. We have a good chance of winning this trophy.
