Here’s an interesting article from 1933 in a Chinese newspaper about wealthy City helping Oldham in 1933. Something to think about - it’s 1933 and despite the depression City were the wealthiest club in the north west (United’s crowds were woefully low) so imagine if those who bang on about money and buying success had been around then. We’d be the giant for ever!

We did much the same thing in the 80s, sold them Earl Barrett and Paul Warhurst for about £50k combined and Oldham sold them on later for a total of £2.5m. I'd be surprised if we had sell-on clauses.
We were criticised for gaining £500k from the Barrett sale due to the sell on clause, and that was the reason we sold him for £15k form our reserves.

City did that all the time with younger players, and were a bit of a pioneer in the area. Speculate to accumulate.
