Weather Watch: Newcastle Away (UPDATED Xmas Day)

Re: Weather Watch: Newcastle Away

It really matters what the roads are like getting up.

A any snow on Christmas day won't be gritted.

Boro was bad enough last year.

am making the journey on wednesday meself, with a quick stop off in york on the way for family, and a duvet in the boot so i dont die.

Wheres good for a pint beforehand on boxing day for those of us not on a coach?

As Shiers says, the Hotspur's not a bad boozer and is handily placed in the centre of town, about 10mins walk from SJP. The Geordies are a pretty friendly bunch and as long as we behave we should have a good laugh.

Me and my mate will probably be going in there too:-)

Whats it like for parking near the ground and what price do u expect to pay?

Parking can be a nightmare in Newcastle, as the ground's right in the centre of town. Most of the surrounding residential areas (including ours) are permit only. The main shopping centre is Eldon Square and it has a multi-storey. Their website only has the shops open til 5pm on Boxing Day, which probably won't be enough time.

The NCP on John Dobson Street is normally 24 hour on Sundays, but with it being Boxing Day, I'd check in advance: http://www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park.htm

There's normally a privately run car park similar to those near Eastlands (£5 normally) just over the way from SJP at Wellington Street. Dunno if they'll be doing Boxing Day though.

There's metered parking on Richardson Road (5-10 mins walk away). Look for the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

I read somewhere that there was a multi-storey car park at the RVI which is handy for the ground & pretty good for getting away after the match. Is that right? Thanks.

Apart from the metered parking along Richardson Road, I'd avoid the RVI as the place is a building site at the moment, due to refurbishment. That said, on Claremont Road (which runs parallel to Richardson Road) there's a 20 car-sized Pay and Display car park next to Exhibition Park.

Re: Weather Watch: Newcastle Away

As soon as I stepped off the Metro I was greated by a blizzard, North East style.
