Weekend Games Discussion Thread (22nd-23rd Oct)

Why has Dogleash dropped Maxi? He was on fire at the end of last season and couldn't stop scoring. Does Dogleash, on his 80s nostalgia trip, not like too many foreigners in his team as he let his second best midfielder (behind Gerrard) Meireles go to Chelsea as well. Plus Aquilani was class for them pre-season and also let go.

Don't think Malaga are really that much of a project ala city or lets say Paris St Germain. Unlike Paris St Germain which are owned by Qatar Investment Authority or City by ADUG. Malaga is owned by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani, so its one private individual within the royal family. So its probably more of a personal project rather than a grand one ala City or PSG which have grander ambitions related to marketing and exposure of Abu Dhabi and Qatar respectively.

Edit: Speaking of him, i think the sheikh is at the Malaga game, doesn't look very happy considering the result.

Missed our game due to food poisoning. Glad I did!

do you think you're going down? and when would you consider sacking coyle?

Yes, we are doomed. I'd sack Coyle after our next defeat vs Swansea. I know we're only the repulsive Bolton Wanderers, but we deserve better than what we're watching and Coyle's simply not good enough. No tactical awareness and hides when we're in the crap. Don't get me wrong, I'm used to use losing/generally fooking things up but it's jut a disgrace atm.

Got bloody back pain since that result too - feel reet sorry for myself! ;)

End of the day you've gotta look at how poorly liverpool have spent their money. £20 mill on downing who has absolutely done dick all so far this season and when they needed a goal they brought £16 million invisible man jordan henderson on (who was never gonna make a difference), and then on comes the £35 million gerodie piss can who could have won them the game but we all saw what happened. Even jose enrique who everyone was raving about is looking average at best and charlie adam will never be good enough. I still think they're in with a good chance of fourth cos they had a good squad to begin with before they spunked their money on this bunch of losers, but if they miss out it will be a huge blow for them and with the money they've spent and arsenals woe's they chould be making 4th

-- Sat Oct 22, 2011 8:03 pm --

I think it's games like today which put set us apart from the likes of liverpool. We've got too many players (Silva, Yaya, Kun, Nasri) who play on a technically superior level to most teams and they just bamboozle the likes of norwich. Liverpool only really have 1 in Suarez and that's partly why they'll drop unlikely points like today

Truth of the matter is Kenny shouldn't have gotten that job at all. A purely emotional appointment that started temporary but a few good results and a few Dalglish chants and he's permanent. Fenway Sports Group should've just rode it out, thanked him for his services as temporary manager and then go about hiring a proven top manager and give him all that cash to spend. Who know they might have been able to land Villas-Boas if they would've talked to him before Chelsea sacked Ancelotti.

I know Bolton have lost 7 in 9 and all 5 at home but it still seems too early to sack him. The only reason to make such a bold decision would be if the football is completely hopeless and you genuinely have no confidence in his ability to turn it around.

Everton regularly have a slow start yet seem to get going later on in the season. You never hear one of their fans calling for Moyes' head.

Coyle was the bolton messiah not so long back

FT: Malaga 0-4 Real Madrid

Malaga were the better team second half but only because Real chose to sit back and absorb the pressure. Malaga might have had a few goals if they were more clinical.

Barca vs. Sevilla next, this should be a good game - Sevilla unbeaten so far.

Barca vs Sevilla is a good match, Sevilla almost scored. Not going to be a 5 niller to Barca this one.

Sevilla defending solid tbf...

can they keep it up though? In these situations it usually only a matter of time.

Probably not, they cant sustain Barca under this amount of pressure all game, as you say matter of time, once one comes more will follow.

Starting to look a bit ominous for Sevilla now yeah.

What a weak shot by Villa.
Too bad Alexis Sanchez isn't playing, we were linked with him last summer, would've liked to see if he was any good.

Exactly. A good point was made on the Radio earlier saying Bolton haven't looked the same since they lost the FA Cup Semi 5-0 against Stoke. I'd love to have seen the odds for that one!
