I think he is a bit better shot stopper than Trafford and his distribution is on a par. Why buy the next long term England Goalkeeper as a no 2? We need strengthening in other areas before this. In addition he is in no way a replacement for Ederson. He is a completely different type of Goalkeeper and will do little for our ‘possession based’ football.
Obviously hope I’m wrong.
I agree. I hope he does well, but I don’t get this signing or what the plan is with Trafford - who I think will be gone by next summer.

Trafford will be sold next year 100%, World Cup year, he’s signed thinking he’s going to be number 1 and we have absolutely fucked him over.

Can’t blame the club for jumping on the worlds best goalkeeper but I think we could even see him go in January, considering Ortega hasn’t gone.

Part of a swap deal for Livaremento in January perhaps?

We have gotten too used to enjoying signing with potential. I find it a good change to see someone signed who is already world class. Except an RB and some issues with outgoings I think the window hasn't been bad considering the squad.

Again, Trafford wasn't starting over Ederson either way this year.

Will wear 99 on the back of his shirt. The game's gone.

Clearly a big fan of Dickov's goal against Gillingham - but that doesn't sit right with me
I genuinely don’t think I could care any less what number anyone wears. It won’t affect my day, let alone my life in any way.

If Ederson had stayed chances are he wasn’t starting, but there was a clear pathway to becoming our first choice keeper. Unless there’s some major disaster or injury this signing completely blocks that.

Again I want him to do well. It does feel like this signing is for our next manager more than anything

Yeah. Was thinking this. Carrot to dangle to Newcastle.

Either way. Trafford hasn't been fucked over. Big new contract. Young and can move on if that's his want

All the negative comments under the BBC article about him signing for City are utterly insane and baffling.

Been skeptical throughout but its done now so I get fully behind it and see with intrigue how we adapt.

As an aside, City claim he is 6ft 5 so we get an answer to Traffords height soon enough when we see pictures of them training together, I'm still not having Trafford as 6ft 6.

It's surely unlikely he starts the derby, might not even have a training session with us before it, maybe Napoli or potentially Arsenal, either way its a baptism of fire debut.
I’ll put £10 of mine against yours that he starts the derby.

I like it. He raises the floor of the squad. With his experience, he should bring a winning mentality to go along with Haaland, Rodders etc

He fills the goal and gives me confidence. But let’s see
