Welcome Marc Guehi!

Hate to put too much pressure on the lad but our whole season depends on how fast he gets up to speed.

We need him to be solid as fuck for 4 weeks, get us to mid-late Feb when Dias is back.

It's mad because we've been piss poor for 1 week and poor for 3 weeks and yet we still have everything to play for.

He won’t be looking at swanky penthouses in Macclesfield

As good as we hope Guehi is, he is not going to solve our problems overnight. You only have to look at Palaces’s recent slide down the table whilst he was still playing for them.

I am very happy with the signing of Guehi but expecting a centre back to come from a team who play a back 3 and defend in a low block on the edge of their own box to come in and slot in seamlessly to a side that is possession based and plays a very high line is a huge ask.

He also has to come in and try and hold Khusanov’s hand through every game whilst getting zero protection from the midfield.

Indeed.

We have just bought the best English centre back in his prime for £20m , he might be on big money , but he would have got similar money from Madrid or the Dippers in a few months , we are paying £20m up front and the rest over five and a half seasons. He would of commanded at least £200k a week and a signing on fee in the summer , so the alleged £200k to £300k a week we are paying (which will be peformance related) is par for the course, i think we have got a bargain in modern football terms , and a proven Premier league performer

Nice to see the club brief Jack about the shit flying around and media number bollocks about the fee, contract etc

Good news. I know "not your money" brigade. But we are in a bit of transition with Viana now, and if we started giving out silly wages to all new signings along with being more open about taking market opportunities I'd be a bit worried about starting to reminding me a bit of United
i'm sorry but my liverpool friend says we can't trust jack gaughan because he's a city reporter and he was wrong about liverpool making an approach late for semenyo. we can only believe ornstein, alex crook and fabrizio on the fee and wages

Tbh the £300k a week has probably come from the agents side and rivals. His agent will want to seem like he’s secured his client a massive deal so he looks Billy big bollocks and other players want him to rep them. Rivals want to talk it up to look like they weren’t turned down. Ornstein and Romano have probably just took it and ran with it

In reality he’ll most likely be on something like £200k with sizeable bonuses built in based on success which takes it to £300k. As others have said fairly standard for a player so sought after
