Well done blackpool

Gotta say they did impress me, and, no matter what anyone says about Holloway off the field, as a manager, you gotta admire what he's done with them. He's got a very clever system in place which is great for attacking football, where everyone knows their role and always give 100%, and he's got every single one of his players believing they can compete and beat anybody. The determination he has instilled into the players is clear to see.
It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Tevez had scored that penalty, how Blackpool would have responded. We might have ended up scoring 3 or 4 more.
Defensively they dug in for the entire 90 minutes and always had bodies around our men. That Phillips was quality when he came on, left Kolarov for dead on a couple of occasions and you would never have known he was part of a League One side who were relegated last season. Adam and Vaughan also did well in the middle.
They will stay up of. I'm very sure of that. Holloway though must be careful who he buys next season though if they do.

Hope they stay up for years, good football miles better than teams like wigan, blackburn etc

They'd see this as patronising (I would), but I was mighty impressed with them. How good is Charlie Adam at spreading play? Proper one-touch, look, spray it. Well impressed. Matty Phillips was a proper handful, and fair fucks to Holloway for bringing him on when he did and swapping sides when he did.

All in all, quality opposition. Better than most that came here. I salute thee. (Plus I'm sort of with a girl in Lytham so my view is a bit twisted).

I wish them luck for the rest of the season and hope they stay up. Far rather have them than shit teams like wigan, everton, blackburn etc

The anti Blackpool/holloway stuff in the other thread is a fcking embarrassment. They play good open football and holloway was very complimentary in his after match comments.

They did really well today.Barry in particular really struggled with the mobility of the midfield. They will stay up no problem this season, and like it or not that has to have been their first aim.
They remind me of Hull,in that they have surprised a few people with their football so far.I really do believe that they will get an absolute hammering at some stage due to their openess at the back, and how they recover from that will be the true test.

Their manager is a bit of a dick, and their fans are the absolute definition of day tripping plastics-but fair play to the team.

I'd agree with everything there apart from the fans. Didn't we play them in a cup one Wednesday night in the late 80s and they were just as keen?

In a nutshell for me.
