You are not alone 8-)

Er...the post people are commenting on lists a series of managers and hypothesises that none of them "would continually play Fabian Delph at left wing". We'll, Pellegrini hasn't either. So Tim of the Oak is correct.
I think very differently. He's done a piss poor job when faced with injuries because, for example, he puts Demichelis in and asks him to play a high line when his legs have gone. He did nothing to tailor our tactics defensively to help out Demichelis or the team. Then he constantly plays Yaya in a midfield two when his legs have gone or asks him to play two games in three days when his legs have gone instead of - in either circumstance - maybe just trying out MGarcía. Or he didn't trust Iheanacho to play at Villa and we played with no striker against the worst Prem team of the decade for an hour and drew 0-0. He plays Delph on the left and plays Fernando and Yaya as a two when they've never (ever!) played well in a two together instead of playing Delph and Fernando as the two and give Yaya a rest after he only played three days before and can't do it anymore with so little time between games. The club sit on the brink of something incredible, yet Pellegrini has underachieved and many have said they cannot wait for the season to end! Like a lot of us I waited 36 years for us to win anything-I never dreamt I'd get to see us win shiny things and several of them over the last few seasons. Pellegrini for me has done an excellent job this season when faced with constant injuries to key players, constant media speculation, the fallout from FFP restrictions and an ageing, declining squad that he has managed the best way he can. I for one am grateful.

He's constantly done things like this when faced with injuries, to the detriment of the team and our results.
Same as you, I heard that Guardiola was a effectively done last summer. But by all accounts it was seemingly done in 2012, shit happened (great shit happened) and it fell out of bed.
In January 2013 Guardiola to City was "Not 99%, but 100% done" to City for summer 2013 according to a very well placed journalist at City. The week later he announced he was joining Bayern.
Last summer I had strong word that Guardiola was coming to City in summer 2016, but again, I don't think anything was signed, it could still have fallen out of bed, the same as it did in 2012 and 2013.
My personal view is that he probably didn't formalise anything until late 2015, probably after the Juventus game.
I agree that Pellegrini probably knew from day one that Guardiola would be the next City manager. But I don't think it undermined him at any point before that agreement in late 2015.
He knew he wouldn't be here for 20 years. He knew it would be a 3-4 year project all along, even before he signed.
It's ended up being a 3 year reign.
If we didn't have an informal agreement with Guardiola, Pellegrini would have been definitely sacked at the end of 2014/15.
If we didn't have a formal agreement with Guardiola in late 2015, Pellegrini would have been sacked then.
So far from Guardiola undermining Pellegrini and costing him his job, he's actually bought him an extra full season that he would never have got under different circumstances.
Guardiola coming has actually bought Pellegrini time, not cost him it.
No, he's giving his opinion on the evidence in front of him unlike yourself who has this strange viewpoint that because no one knows what the manager is thinking or the circumstances behind closed doors we shouldn't criticise. Are you effectively saying that because the fans don't know the circumstances as to why he has made such decisions, there can only be one reason and that is the manager is inept/stupid/clueless etc?

Basically where you give him the benefit of the doubt for every decision made others don't.
I know that mate and some posters go way over the top with the personal insults.Pab, there is a huge difference between constructive criticism based on knowing all the facts, and constructive criticism based on speculative thinking. And then there's the immature bile that gets thrown about
If criticism is only allowed when we know all the facts you can never criticise anyone. You can't give any credit either. So according to this we can close the forum.Pab, there is a huge difference between constructive criticism based on knowing all the facts, and constructive criticism based on speculative thinking. My point was we won't ever know all the facts as to why he's made certain decisions. The best we can do is go off the players in the match day squad who have been chosen and the positions they play in any particular game. For many, those choices have been wrong too often.

You use cheap rhetorical tricks here my friend. Every time you know no further you talk about bile instead of the arguments in front of you. You can't just dismiss arguments by claiming somebody some time said something which you think is out of order.
It's a lovely day for it. Taking my boy so hoping they don't give me too many reasons to cover his ears!I don't disagree, but I find it a lazy argument to call the manager out when we have international players strewn all over the pitch who are more than capable of playing a cohesive game of football. I bite too often and am trying to reel myself in a little, but there is an ever increasing trend on here for posters to state opinion as fact to try and strengthen a particular argument.
Honest appraisals I love to read (good and bad), but when you know stuff is being made up........
Anyway, getting stuff together and leaving for the game now.
Lets hope the post match thread is only a few pages :)
Delph hasn't been our regular left winger. No one suggested he has. It's your post that's inaccurate.
Shaelumstash, was part of the reason why Guardiola didn't come in 2013, due to the negative financial effects of FFP on us you think?
At the risk of dancing round in circles with you, here are 'apparently' the latest quotes from Manuel regarding Pep. Two points though, it was Manuel who announced Pep to City forcing the club to confirm it. Also do you agree or disagree that under normal circumstances Manuel would probably been sacked at the end of last season had it not been for us having Pep secured so Manuel provided the route of least resistance for a season?Right we're there now.

The reason he got the job was the impending Pep Guardiola. The reason he's not been sacked. The impending Guardiola.
As I've said all along. We employed Pellegrini, we have stuck by Pellegrini all in the pursuit of Guardiola. We have basically spent three years waiting for Guardiola. This has been my point all along.
Earlier on you suggested there were no circumstances. It was just a normal job.
So, Pellegrini hasn't been sacked because of Pep, he got the job because of Pep. It is by very definition a strange circumstance.
You're right, Pep has given Pellegrini more time. As I said all along, he was only here till Pep. The club have been treading water for three years.
Pep is a much much better manager, he is 100% a huge upgrade on Pellegrini. I have never quibbled that. I have said all along that treading water is ideal for no one. The job was never really Pellegrini's he was just keeping the seat warm.
Still doesn't explain why he chose to go 442 for 60 minutes against WBA. Injuries definitely haven't helped, but most of this season's failures have been self inflicted imoThe club sit on the brink of something incredible, yet Pellegrini has underachieved and many have said they cannot wait for the season to end! Can you point me to an official statement where the club said they allowed Manuel to make the announcement to save him from being humiliated. We've been through this a lot of times but the Club's hierarchy let Pelligrini make the statement to avoid him being humiliated. Pellers didn't ask to be dismissed.
Didn't they have printed club statements ready to hand out to the journalists at the end of the press conference, and as the Pellegrini statement came right at the end of the conference the club were fully aware he was going to say it.Can you point me to an official statement where the club said they allowed Manuel to make the announcement to save him from being humiliated.
Also Manuel wasn't dismissed, by all accounts the one year contract extension was able to be pulled by either party and it was City who exercised this option albeit we all suspected it was in place to stop constant media speculation about his future.
Hope your not sat near me then :-)It's a lovely day for it. Taking my boy so hoping they don't give me too many reasons to cover his ears!
