Well done boss

I think it's now accepted that City wanted Pep and our pursuit of him was derailed with our dramatic title win in 2012. Mancini may have been given a new contract, but I think this was just to keep him onside whilst another plan for Pep was formulated in the form of Pellegrini as an interim alternative who would move over when the time came whilst just being grateful for the gig. The undermining of Mancini started immediately with the infamous 2012 transfer window and less than 12 months later he was sacked for achieving more than Pellegrini did last season.

Pep came out this week and admitted that HE turned us down in 2012 as he didn't think we were quite ready for him so he went to Bayern instead. In the intervening period things have continued to improve structurally and I think the world is in no doubt we're no flash in the pan and are here to stay. The fact Pep has signed for us is a sign that we have a seat at the top table of European football even if it is at the opposite end to the elite mainstays who still dislike our presence.
Mancini wasn't sacked for the on pitch performances. He was sacked as several key players, including a few golden boys, told the club they would leave if he stayed.

Well that and the fact they are sat on 10x as much as Dubai was. Dubai has transformed itself from a natural resources economy to be fair to them.

It's unfair to compare the two. Dubai is currently two decades ahead in terms of economic diversification.
Structurally-wise maybe, but they are light years away economically and loads of shiny new skyscrapers won't change that fact. Having said that Dubai seem to be making the most they can out of what they have and in that respect you can't ask for any more.

I said economic diversification. Dubai gets by without any oil money which Abu Dhabi certainly doesn't. If oil was banned tomorrow, it would effect Dubai, it would stop Abu Dhabi dead.

But it won't run out of course and Abu Dhabi have the luxury of another good few decades ahead to diversify.

The counter rumours I heard were that player discord was greatly trumped up, but was used amongst other things as the reasons why Mancini had to go.

It's quite plain to me that a successful and popular Mancini didn't fit with our pursuit of Pep, so it was better to jettison him sooner rather than later as the longer he stayed, the harder it would become to justify his sacking.

It's just the way the mop flops mate. In the meantime Abu Dhabi are making hay whilst the sun is still shining in preparation for the day that dark clouds roll in over head.

My sources couldn't have been closed to be fair mate.

I don't agree with your conspiracy theory sorry.

All these close sources and supposed great agitation and "despicable" behaviour behind the scenes, yet no spilling the beans 3 years on.
Anyway who cares - only those that think they know more than the rest or using it to enforce their own beliefs.
Anyway D Day today, far more important than the the tired squabble.
Come on City - pleeeeease!

That's the thing though mate, I've heard different to you and as always the truth will be somewhere in the middle. Yaya, Micah, Silva and Aguero have come out and said they had no issues with him albeit all 4 of them were apparently part of the group of players who wanted to leave if Mancini wasn't removed.

Whatever the truth, the fact is the club should have told the players to shut the fuck up and get on doing what they're being paid to do, well that's what I'd have done. But that's just me innit! Lol

Your friendly neighbourhood Badass, Dribble!... :-)

A few golden boys eh? So it wasn't just Yaya then!

Well done for a risky set up when all we need is a draw
Just be thankful it's not yaya + 1 in there.

Sadly for us, it may well be a fitting end to his reign - play 4-4-2, kdb on the left, away from his best position and where his lack of tracking back is exposed - and end up conceding goals on the break in a match where just a draw would have sufficed. Would hate, just hate to see that happen, but would be the perfect way for our dear manager to sign off.

Really.

Yeah I smiled when I've seen each and everyone come out and say all was fine. Lying twats. But I suppose saying "yeah I threw the toys out of my pram and said if leave unless he was sacked" makes them look bad.
