Just seen the thread re Tommy Hutchison on this weeks Blue Moon show and it instantly got me thinking back to the FA cup final in 1981, I know I'm showing my age a little but It got me reminiscing about the first game. I went with my dad and grandad, I was only ten at the time but can remember everything about the day.
I got so scared after we went 1-0 up as it went mental and everyone was jumping over everyone. My dad told me it was ok and we were going to win the cup, When they scored I remember sobbing like it was the end of the world.
Couldn't go to the replay as it was a school night and my mum wouldn't let me go.
My dad died in 2008 so I really want to win it this year, taking my lad this time round, wont promise him anything but just hoping. COME ON CITY
Just wondered what the memories were of 81 for those old enough to remember???

couldnt get a ticket for the sat game but went anyway, got chased by about 500 spurs fans outside the ground while the game was on, this big fat coach driver saw me leging it and opend his coach door 'get on here son' and watch the match its a fiver, couldnt get my cash out fast enough, the thursday match no tickets again and off i went, think i paid a tenner to a spiv on wembley way he took me behind this hot dog stand and gave me my ticket which was in the spurs section

The deal was ,beat ipswich we go on holiday to Spain ,so that I can get back for the final ,lose we go to America .
On the day take off from Malaga to Madrid ,Madrid to Heathrow ,off to the game ,draw 1-1.
next day Heathrow to Madrid ,Madrid to Malaga commence Holiday .
Watched the replay on Moroccan Telly with commentary from Radio 2 .
Sick ruined holiday.

I was ten at the time, went to the final with my dad. Bought a centenery cup final flag which I've still got.

Remember during cup final week being asked to go and speak to one of the teachers at school mid lesson. All he wanted to know was whether me or my dad needed a ticket for the final.

went to the semi and had a ticket for the final but the mob had me yomping round the black mountains and though we were supposed to be back early enough for me to make it on the saturday we weren't and I ended up watching it in a fooking communal tv room in a military base in fareham

I'll be there this time if we get past the rags please god

I was a bit young to make it to the '81 final, but at least I made it to the big one... the Full Members Cup Final in '86!!!

THIS is the important point ! A semi is a semi, it means f**k all it being at Wembley, please can we not treat it like its our cup final, or it may well end up being just that.

Agreed mate. There will be a much bigger game coming if and when we beat those rag wankers.

We could of got the job done in the final, but the replay we were just hanging on, everyone knew it was only a matter of time.

The biggest memory was the amount of trouble, it was kicking off everywhere. The concourse during the game was a battle ground, but the carpark after we lost the replay had to be seen.
