We're in trouble

Re: Were in trouble

Defence is shambolic without Kompany. We're so exposed by the high line and Lescott just can't cope. It's not his fault, he just isn't suited to the style. But we gave Hull far too much space today and if we intend to press against a team with a 3 man midfield, we'd need another in there ourselves or we just set ourselves up for exposure. Nobody stood out today, Negredo probably did the most as he looks a dangerous player, but the rest were average or poor. Better side would have done us today and I hope we improve cause Stoke away and the Rags at home could see us having a torrid time defensively if we carry on.

no champagne football today but didn't concede and won 2 zip.
its a new system with a new set of players.
FFS give it time.
booing at half time well.
the squad are still sorting the shape and the system out.
without VK we are half the team we all know that give it time and we will realise this was a great 3 points.

There was booing at half time? That is out of order

I never heard any booing, normal collective grumble but no booing

Re: Were in trouble

Can't workout our system.

Do know that Yaya and Deno are both far to deep.

Yaya needs to play much further up.

Half our problem is that we defend a far too high. There's a massive gap between our back line and the goalkeeper which is OK if you have mobile centre backs. Unfortunately Lescott isn't the quickest and as a result we struggle.
But at least he's better than Garcia!
Happy days, a win and 3 points

Excluding the last line, that's a load of sh1te
I knew I wasn't cut out to be a football manager. Still My Subbuteo team beckons I suppose.
As it happens I don't think we should get too worried....yet

Re: Were in trouble

It will take months to get used to a new system, all we can hope is we can win games no matter how ugly. Changing the whole system isn't something which happens in a couple of games.

Re: Were in trouble

Awful performance today.

My overall impression is that we're lacking in grit. We brought in some pace, but we're not yet utilising it. I hope that will come in time.

Our midfield looks weak. For all the pundits praising Yaya, I just don't see him 'bossing' midfield.

We have a number of lightweight players, and I can't blame them for their stature... they are quick, but light. What I DO expect though is that bigger players use their strength more than they do. Dzeko falls over a little too easily, and Yaya's no stranger to hitting the deck with a slight nudge.
For my money, we need Milner and Negredo on from the start,

We feel like an Arsenal side at the moment.... nice football when we're having things all our own way, but as soon as we face a determined and aggressive side, we struggle. It doesn't take long before teams start seeing this and say "have a good go at City, they are fragile"... and better teams than Hull will take their chances.

We won, and we should be grateful for that much at least. It could so easily have been a defeat today, but I really do think we need a bit more steel.

There was a bit, but it was just a few people.

Re: Were in trouble

Play Navas wide,he's useless coming indside.Start with Negredo.Stop pushing the full backs up,it get's us nowhere and leaves us exposed. Play at a higher tempo and press up on the opposition when they have possession, we still look too lazy when the opposition have the ball.

Hull were determined to kill the game and take great delight in getting a point from a 0-0 draw.

City have few things to sort out I grant you. But, please do fuck off.

You missed the game then? FFS they took the game to us, bossed it for 45 minutes and still had their foot on the attack pedal until we wrapped it up with the 2nd.

Park the bus, they did not.

Our defence is a shambles. Our midfield got bossed for the most part. Silva, Aguero, Dzeko, Navas all poor.

I'm worried too ...

It won, t tske pellers wrong to work out a 3 in midfield is needed in some games barry would let yaya and fernandinho express themselves further forward as none ov them want to do the holding role agreed that lescott is finished but don, t expect us to play this in the big games ie europe and good prem teams.

Bring back Gareth Barry...........

Yes he's old, knackered, slow and error prone. But I agree we play better with him in the side. Maybe we should go back to 4 5 1 with Barry and Fernandino holding and Yaya further up front. Barry even in the de Jong role with the other 2 going forward.

Actually I would just stick Nasri in with them. It was less an inability to defend and more that our midfield two were outnumbered.

My concern is , against better opposition like the rags, we will ship 3 or 4 goals if we allow them the amount of time to play in midfield. Just yaya and fernandiho in the middle isnt enough.
I think Yaya and Fednandinho will be enough.

They weren't the problem. The pressure from the forwards in the first half was so bad that Yaya and Dinho had to drop very deep to protect.

This allowed Hull more time on the ball.

I thought Yaya and Fernandinho played quite well personally.

They constantly dispossessed central threats. Fernandinho wasn't beaten 1 on 1 all match iirc.
Problem is they should have to do so much cleaning up and that blame lies on the team's collective work rate.

Get milner in on the left our left back is exposed every single week!!

That would work too. There are solutions. I feel the manager is smart enough to find them.

"We are" it should be.

And I thought we won? People need to understand that smaller teams see us a scalp, 2 more minutes last week we would have won. I am not worried at least the manager a not afraid to make changes that seem to work.

Do these teams play exactly the same way against the other title challengers. I think they don't. There's something about playing us that drives teams on. For all the seasons MANUre were nicking the title, smaller teams just went there and surrendered. They never took the game to MANUre at The Swamp or to CFC at The Bridge.
