To win the title. Excellent point today keeps us tucked in there. Oh sorry, puts us on top of the league. Well done blues and all the fans that went and backed the team.
People seem to assume the rags will win their last 9 matches. It's crazy and smells of complacency.

The key match for us will be Arsenal away. If we beat Sunderland at home and beat Arsenal away, then the whole complexion of this title 'run-in' changes. If we don't, then we fall behind and make the most of our home matches.

The Chelsea win was big and the point against Stoke was a well earned one, after a conceding a once in a lifetime goal.
Does the fact we are not playing well not bother anyone at this point of the season, too many players not in form. Are we just going to ignore this fact.
We played well against Chelsea and very few teams get to play their normal game at Stoke unless they are coasting.

It's the run in. Each game is a Cup Final.

Stoke away may have been our most difficult away game as Newcastle, and arsenal are sure to play football and attack

See Platt's comments

We knew it would be difficult but we dug in and we just need to keep amassing points,” said Platt.“People could turn around and say that this was two points dropped but we won’t know that until the season has ended to see if it was actually a point gained.

“There are enough games left for us still to have a good go at it and that’s what we’ll be doing.

...David Platt
Platt admitting City’s policy of ending with so many forwards on the pitch could have proved costly, but it was a risk worth taking.

“The game became stretched and both teams wanted to win, so it could have gone either way in the end,” he said.

“There is a long way to go and there will be more twists and turns along the way, for certain. We will follow our own road as we have been doing all season and win as many games as we possibly can between now and the last match.

“Our destiny is still well within our own hands, which is all you can ask for at this stage. The lads are positive and we move on to the next game, now.

Re: We are well on track

To win the league we need the rags to drop at least 10 points. Very unlikely in my opinion.

They might not win their 9 matches but we certainly won't win our 8.

We're talking the same stuff since it was 12 matches. Win 12 and title is ours, win 11 title is ours, win 9 bla, bla, bla

and we fail to win whenever we move from Etihad.

Yes, at the start of the season it's "win the next 38 games and the title's ours" for every team, but one by one that ceases to be true. If you can still say it as the number of games gets smaller and smaller, so much the better. Of course we were in a slightly better position with 12 games to go - we could afford to make a couple of slip ups and still have our destiny in our own hands (which has happened) - but now with only 8 to go, we still 'just' need to win them all. That still sounds pretty good to me, and better than the position we were in in 1968 with one game to go; "Right, that's it, it's over. No point going to Newcastle when United only have to beat Sunderland at home".

We may win it, we might not, and they're rightly favorites now, but to throw your hands in the air and give up with 8 games left, even if we are 3 points behind on Monday night is just ridiculous. I'm glad I was never on a football team with any you guys if this is how you respond when the chips are down.

with the Rags a league game in hand.

Anyone that sincerely claims we're top of the league, just on a small GD alone, with the Rags an easy home game in hand, is an idiot.

Eh...just looked at the league table and it says we are top of the league..and I don't' think the rags have beaten Fulham yet?????

Actually they need only drop 3 - maths wasn´t my strong point at school but even I can see that

You serious ? two points dropped, play like that at arsenal and it'll be 5 dropped. Awful performance today. Can only think of Nasri, Micah and Kolo who played well. No where good enough if we want to win it.

This is it! We won't win fuck all if we're just going to wait for the other teams to score first and then begin our urgent play! We'll lose at Arsenal with this attitude and I'm sorry, I know we're all supposed to be positive on this site and not be pessimistic and all that bollocks but I don't want to rely on some thought that them wankers are gonna drop points because nobody wins 9 games out of 9. We need to start playing like we did at the start, when the pressure was slightly lower...

"nobody wins 9 games out of 9"....does that include the Rags or are you excluding them from your argument??

Re: We're not ready to win the league.

You are right, might as well pack it in no need to play the remaining games of the season.

Or you could grow some balls.

They'll beat them. But will they win all their away games? Blackburn, Wigan, City and Sunderland away are the toughest places to go at this stage of the season. Most people think their fixtures are easy, but after Fulham they are the worst fixtures you could have at this stage of the season.
