Were you wrong about Pep?

I was spot on with last season. On the basis that City were a bigger project in terms of how much was needed to be done to get us up with the Bayerns and Barelonas I thought last season would be tough. Worse still that 99% of City fans seemed to think that simply by walking through the door he would magically turn us into his Barcelona team. So I correctly predicted that we would win fuck all but would finish top 4.

I thought that this season would be better and with a bit of luck we might win something. So my wisdom regarding this season has proved to have been bollocks. I was convinced maybe in his third season he would be getting somewhere close to where he wants it to be, and I might be right on that one because unlike the fans Pep may not see winning the league Cup and The Premier League as his ultimate level here, even if it involves winning the league by a landslide, and really without being particularly stretched very often.

Apart from drug users i doubt any Blue can claim to have expected after 2 season he would have gone a considerable way to recreating what he had at Barca with I thought would be impossible. Thing is it really is like watching his old Barca team, never thought I would see that again let alone at City.

It will be fascinating to see what happens next season, watching things evolve and how he does things has been an absolute pleasure.

I did think maybe Pep was a little overated before he came. I was hopelessly wrong on that one because the bloke looks to me like a genius.

So lucky to have him, can you just imagine if he had chosen swamp life rather than idylic East Manchester.
Good synopsis and a few Blues on our bus last year predicted Pep would get the bullet, some won't admit it and it's free speech but I always think players and Managers should be given 2 years at least to prove their worth .So happy as Pep would say .

I saw a snippet from a pitch side interview with Summerbee. He said "Guardiola is a genius". Coming from an ex pro still close to the inner club was good enough. The conviction in his voice said it all. Good enough for Buzzer good enough for me

The man given time will change our national game. Too many dinosaurs stealing wages in manager chairs. Throw in a.bit of klopp a sprinkle of Pochettino and our game will surely evolve and international success will result.

This season is exactly what I thought we were going to get.

That Barca team is the best football team of all time for me. His Bayern team is the best visiting team I’ve ever seen in the flesh. As others have said, the guy is a genius. He just sees the game differently to every other coach.

I was a bit disappointed last season, but if you look at our record and performances when we played 433 we were excellent. We won the first 10 games remember, and people were raving about us like this season.

It all went tits up when we started dicking around with 3 at the back and then shoe-horning Gundogan in when there was really no need to. Then Bravo’s form just became absolutely comedy bad. Never seen anything like it. Every shot on target was a goal for about 3 months.

But the signs were there that this season was coming for me. Particularly how well Silva and DeBruyne worked together. I think the “getting his players in” this season is a bit overhyped as well. Our starting 11 contains 9 players from last year. Every single one of them has improved beyond measure this season. That’s not down to recruitment, it’s down to coaching.

The question(s) for me is:

- How long will Pep stay with us? We've seen Pep telling Gary Lineker that he definitely wants to manage a national team in the future. Is 6 years asking too much?
- Do we have succession plans after Pep, and if so, who do we get?

Completely. I remember coming away from the Everton home game this season and saying nothing has changed since last season and we’ll be drawing 1-1 at home each week. Little did I know we wouldn’t drop another point till New Year’s Eve. Amazing transformation considering only walker and ederson of the new signings have been regulars.

He sticks to his principle no matter what. So when it wasn't working, he changed the players to one's that would make the principle work. That is why this season is now functioning. The football hasn't changed, the ideas remain. He now has the players to deliver.

It's not naive. Nothing about it is naive. In fact those who thought he was naive are the naive ones.
He changed everything at Leicester and seemingly went against everything he’d done with us before and since. We played three at the back and the three were Kolarov Stones and Sanga with Bravo behind them and Fernando in front of them.

It was suicidal and we were torn a new one by Leicester’s through balls down the channels and long hoofs.

That’s the only time (because at Everton it was the players being dog shit, not anything Pep did) he’s done something weird whilst being here and looked daft. Everything else has been carefully crafted into becoming the best football team in Europe and we’re only part of the way through the long term aim.

We are nowhere near the finished article. Most of the squad is young with a few older players. Wait until this young squad all hit their prime in 3-5 years. The only thing is I hope Pep is still with us when that happens.

As long as he solves the problem of cold fusion, i will give him the benefit of the doubt.
