To be fair to Allardyce, he did a tremendous job at Bolton and had them in Europe. He should never have left there to go to Newcastle when he did. Newcastle were (and still are) a mental club, there’s no stability there at all. He had everything going right at Bolton!

Now he’s almost a parody of himself. Barely anyone even remembers his Bolton achievements anymore.

The way things are going at us, I wouldn't be surprised. As for what he done in the past? Well, I used to be able to run miles at a good speed but I'm not anymore so gave it up. Sam needs to do The same.

I really love how some of our "flops" are really turning it around. Cancelo, Stones and Rodri come to mind. At the beginning of the season, none of those players had justified the fees paid for them.
Now it looks like they could be our backbone for years to come. This means that we can continue to spend money to improve our team, rather than replace existing big money signings. We rarely need to discard our big money purchases anymore. Which was unfortunately quite common under Pellegrini and Mancini.

Mendy is perhaps the only 40m-50m+ player that has been pretty much completely useless for us since Pep came in.

One interesting thing is that we haven't really faced many parked buses as of late. I think the false 9 does well as far as dragging teams out of the box.

No way she made that decision to flag. He took 5 touches before she flagged. I’ve suspected for a while that this late flag going up bollocks is fown to them being told in their ear by another official and tonight proved it to me, only the fact the ref ignored it and waited is the reason it stood.

Although not aimed at me, I feel obliged to say that that was along with half the forum. And another sneering prick on this thread wrote off Merlin as finished about 4 years ago, IIRC.

Some are not as savant or as lily-white as they like to make out. Unless posters were seriously and unjustifiably OTT, scoffing with the benefit of hindsight is a risky game. Everyone’s posts are a matter of record for those who can be arsed digging them out.
