Pre-Match Thoughts

This one's on Tuesday night so just two days in between now and the game but at least it's a home game and no travel required for the team. Alongside Burnley and Fulham, this one's got be another one of those home bankers if there is such a thing (on paper at least) ...

The ref is a new one for us, only got promoted to PL last season but this I think is his first ever game for us ... maybe that's why the heavy weights as 4th official and on VAR ...

The games come thick and fast now, not that they ever slowed at any point this season but at least there isn't another international break now for next few months ... three more games for us before Christmas (two in the league and one Carabao QF) and two more straight after that ... time to climb right up that table ... but for that we need to go win win win win win now, can't afford anymore draws ...

C'mon City!

Needs a few changes and some fresh ideas and energy.

Whatever we are doing from an attacking perspective, it just isn't working. Burney at home aside.

Would like to see Laporte play, but doubt Pep will change an effective partnership.

I agree with this, I don’t want to see Mahrez or Sterling anywhere near the team at the moment

Foden must start
Mahrez shouldnt even make the bench

One holding midfielder only

Hopefully kun at least makes the bench

Looks good to me that side.

Time to see if Pep has the balls to change things.

Need to give some players a rest and only bring them off the bench if needed.

The positive is that the back 4 looks quite solid now, any combination appears to be working.

Issue is next two games are (relatively easy) ... West Brom at home and Saints away ... ok Saints away won't be as easy given our form since the start of the season ... then we have the QF against Arsenal, who thankfully are struggling themselves otherwise it could have been bye bye Carabao ... then it's Newcastle at home ... so not much to be learnt in any of these even if we win them all ... of course a lot to be learnt if we lose one of these or pull out another bore draw somehow ... it's the two after that would tell us where we are (and by that time in the table as well), that's Everton away followed by Chelsea away ... the last game of 2020 and the first one of 2021 ... till then it's all a bit meh!
