West Brom - post match thread

Great win. I doubted Gundogan before the game so I'll obviously retire from pre-match predicitions from now on. Good to see him and Aguero with a brace apiece.

4-0 and yes still some whingers on here. What do we have to do to get fans singing from the same sheet

I love City more than I hate United.

So does Pep and the majority on here. I couldn't give a fuck about Wednesday now. And I very much doubt any United fan is basking in the after glow of Wednesday now, they'll instead be fucked off.

Every team in the CL rested players this week, if it was West Ham we played then you wouldn't give a fuck.

Agree, pep came here to win trophies not win derbies

The prem and champions league are more important the the league cup

This

Well earned today and boy did we need to win. : )

You need to read his post again. I'll give you a clue; it begins with 'c' and ends in 'ompetition'.
Well in that case, should we not have 'rested' players today in preparation for Barca on Tuesday? To some the champs league isn't important, to others it's the be all and end all. I had a cracking day out last year at Wembley beating the scousers on pens so it's all about opinions really but thanks for your help pointing things out for me anyway.

Think Pep did the correct thing myself. We are due an fa cup win so let's have a double and a champions league semi at least!

To be honest, who cares if it wasn't a perfect performance? We've just got our first win in seven, this is a time to be happy and celebrate. We can talk about the shortcomings later.

Back with a bang, excellent first half then seemed to drop off second half giving West Brom a few chances, but then picked them off with gundogan's two goals, hopefully this win gets the confidence flowing again, looking forward to the two home games coming up now Barca and boro..

Said on Wednesday that Guardiola was looking at the bigger picture, and putting the best interests of the team first, and he was proven right. Mourinho only looked at the here and now, he needed to beat us to buy some time. Not rotating the team came back to bite them on the ass.

Great performance, Gundogan was quality, getting back to his best.

I don't think that was the case with the rags today. They didn't look tired just burnleys goalkeeper kept them in it. Even if we played a team like the rags did on Wednesday we would of won today, if we scored first.

That's what was important today - scoring first.

You don't give a shit about derbys mate, whereas i do so we will leave it there thanks.
I don't think there is a single City fan who doesn't care about the Derby match.

However, people need to look at the bigger picture and stop being so obsessed with everything United. The games are coming thick and fast and we need to prioritise certain games. United, West Brom and Barca all come in the space of a week so players needed to be rested. With our recent PL form, the WBA game was a must win so it means Pep had to rest players for either the CL or LC. It would be extremely small-minded and bitter to prioritise a lesser competition because of the opposition.

In the grand scheme of things it actually worked out better for us. A full strength United side scraped a 1-0 win at home against our B side. That's not exactly a season-defining moment and they dropped vital PL points today as well.

And before anyone comes on here and says the LC is a trophy and we shouldn't overlook it, refer to the send off Pellegrini got despite winning the thing twice in three years. I guarantee that if Pellers would have won the PL twice in two seasons and not the LC, there would have been substantially more than 1/5 of the stadium who stayed after his final home game.

You were concerned about losing the derby. None of us like listening to that lot crowing about beating us. But if I ask you which is the more important competiton (PL or EFL Cup), which would you honestly say? And as for resting players for Barca, not for me. I'd rather we did well in the PL than in any competition that has UEFA's corrupt fingerprints on it.As you rightly said though, it's all about opinions.
