West Brom pre-match thread

I'd gamble and save our key players for Tuesday.

Hart - Zab, Ota, Mangler, Kola - Navas, Fernando, Delph, Nasri - Iheanacho, Bony.

West Brom won't be interested in attacking anyway and if needed we can bring on KDB, Aguero, Toure(?) or Silva. Fernando always scores against them and believe it or not but I think Bony will score as well. 2-0 City.
That's not a bad call. It's amazing the difference Nasri's availability makes as that team doesn't look much of a gamble at all. Of course, the front two would have to do the business.

Hart

Zaba Mangala Otamendi Kolarov

Delph Fernando

Navas Silva Nasri

Aguero

How can the same players play Weds, Sat then Tues when PSG will be resting their players

We will not do that. If we do then Pellegrini should be fired (for the 100th time).

If Kompany is close, then prove it in this game. 45 mins.

I like the Kupest team above, but I think I'd have Iheanacho on instead of Aguero. Not sure if Nasri can start. he looked unfit

I'd keep Aguero, de Bruyne and Navas on the bench and then use them if required from the hour mark.

If you cant start Bony against West Brom at home then you really do have to question his signing in the first place.

Got to rest Kun, KDB, Silva, Fernandino and the full backs.

-------------------------------------------------------------- Hart --------------------------------------------------------------
Zabba -------------------------------- Demi ---------------------------- Otamendi -------------------------------- Kolarov
----------------------------------------- Delph --------------------------- Fernando ------------------------------------------
Navas ------------------------------------------------ Iheanacho ------------------------------------------------------ Nasri
-------------------------------------------------------- Bony -------------------------------------------------------------------

That should be more than enough to beat a WBA side who are already on the beach.

Strongest team for me, must win game as united have a pretty easy run in compared to us

And fuck that absolute shithouse bony starting
But what is the strongest team when they have a really hard game in their legs, and what play them twice in 4 days, what becomes our strongest team against PSG on the Tuesday?

Bony and Iheanacho are bound to feature at some point.

I know this is totally pointless, but this is a game when the fans really need to be on side and get what will be a team high on confidence but without several key players over the line

We could take a gamble and play the best players and hope to win it in 30 mins. Bit knowing Pulis teams, they will work incredibly hard to keep us out at first, and then what do we do? Best option is to play fringe players, and bring Aguero, KDB on for last 1/2 hour. We may end up slipping up. But what is the point of qualifying for the CL if you get to the QF and are in the position we are in, and then throw it away be exhausting your players

Recall what happened after the League Cup Final at Anfield. A largely unchanged team was dead on its feet. Is that the condition you want us in when we play PSG?

Strongest team possible, try get the game won early, and make smart subs.

I think Vinny is gonna make it, so worth sticking with Otamendi and Mangala.

Huge weekend, considering I expect Spurs to beat United and West Ham playing Arsenal.

It could afford the breathing room to draw at Chelsea.

Hart
Zaba Otamendi Mangala kolarov
Delph Yaya (Fernando)
Navas Ihenacho Nasri
Bony

Should be enough to see off a West Brom team away from home. Pulis will do his usual damage limitation which means we will have to be patient but have enough guile to unlock their defense

Dont care about the performance in this one, all about the result, a turgid 2-0 will be fine

We need to be fresh for the next two games , surely the clown will recognise this and act accordingly

Would like to see Zaba, Kolarov, Silva, De Bruyne and Nasri start this one, tho KDB could probably do with a rest, as could Dinho so hopefully Yaya is back.

Gonna need the overlaps to break open Pulis' bus

Hart
Zabaleta Otamendi Mangala Kolarov
Fernando Delph
Silva Toure Nasri

Some players simply need a rest. Sometimes you can unsettle a player by resting him. Others need minutes to get back to being a 100% match fit. There is maybe one or two to be tested after injury either as a starter or a sub. Than you need to look at the next opponent and the importance of getting a result with an eye on the next match as well. You tend to think it's not easy to be Pellegrini.

I know we need to win this one badly. Unfortunately, but we've put ourselves in this position. Best chance to play Chimps Lg. next year is to finish in top 4. By far the best chance ...

Hopefully Toure is fit. He wins many of our defensive headers defensively. WBA offer a true ariel threat. I'd start Sagna and Kolarov. Ya Ya too if fit.
How I'd get them in the side? Glad I'm not the manager.

Perhaps Ya Ya, Delph and Fernando. With Navas and Silva and Serio through the middle?

Toure and Delph to start in the middle if both fit. Kolarov and Zaba in at fullback. I'm not of mind that losing this WBA game is the end of the world. Based on the season's results, we should expect half of the team to coast through this game with one eye on Tuesday. Really unfortunate we got handed the Wed/Tue draw in CL and not the Tue/Wed. Could definitely be using those extra two days of rest.

If we want to have a chance next tuesday, we need Clichy, Sagna, nando, and dinho to be fully rested and ready to put in a shift. 4 games in 10 days...it is absolutely unreasonable for anyone to say "these are professional footballers and they need to play every game"

Nasri to start for Silva or Kev. With the names I've mentioned as replacements, there is no reason we can't win at home against WBA...

Fernandinho and Delph never really worked as both are sort of an energizer bunnies who leave huge gaps of spaces open and especially Delph isn't the smartest player of all, from what I've seen. But he was very solid alongside Fernando and we beat easily the lesser sides with that pair (Norwich and Villa in the cup, for example, but I think that's how we started against Palace where Delph was MotM), so if Yaya is still not fit, I'd go with them.

Kolarov and Zabaleta seem like certain starters, as well as Mangala and Otamendi, and the front four should be, in my opinion, the 'strongest possible' and hopefully we can seal the game at worst after 60 minutes or so. Which is the strongest, remains a question, but I'm sure either of Bony or Iheanacho will play. Knowing Pellers, it'll be Bony I guess... Stick Aguero and Silva and one of KdB/Nasri/Navas there and that should do it. Then rest Kun, Silva as much as we can, if the result is ok.

vs West Brom

Hart
Zabaleta Otamendi Mangala Kolarov
Fernando Fernandinho
Navas Silva De Bruyne
Aguero

vs PSG

Hart
Sagna Kompany Mangala Clichy
Fernando Fernandinho Toure
De Bruyne Silva Aguero

no fucking around and players can be brought off if we have a decent cushion.

hart
zab
otamendi
mangala
kolarov
Fernando
dinho
yaya
de bruyne
silva
aguero

This all the way, we cannot afford to 'rest' players. We need to win every game and therefore play the best players available. Anyone suggesting for one second that Bony should play needs to go and lie down in a dark room and think about their place in the world.

very tough to call, need to make this weekend count, a game we should win and a game the rags should lose, but tuesday is also huge. i think no matter what team we put out West Brom will sit back and not cause much threat so if made to choose i think id gamble and rest a few
KDB MUST NOT PLAY THOUGH

Players will be rested for the PSG game so hopefully those brought in can get the job done.

We have to look after KDB.

If he does play at all it should be half a game. There is no point in risking fucking him up. Forgetting the PSG game, the other league games are just as important as Saturdays game, so if his legs go for next week, & we can't use him, it defeats the object of using him on Saturday.

We need to get him fit & not wear him out like we did at the start of the season.
