I'd have liked to have seen more of Nasri.

Same here, I was encouraged by what Pep has said about his attitude and ability. And he quoted the press officer as if to suggest he had been doing his research. Still cling onto hope, if he stays I wouldn't be surprised if we were to get a Yaya-style comeback. There are a lot of players in those positions but if we had injuries for a big game I'd much rather see Nasri.

But as things stand I'd expect Bravo, Mendy, Delph, Gundogan to replace Grimshaw, Mangala, Zinchenko, Foden for the season. i don't know how that leaves us for satisfying the squad criteria for each competition, anyone care to answer...?

Wonder if we will go with 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 I imagine whichever we start with and which team we start with will pretty much be the team for Brighton.

I don't think it will have that great of an impact on what we start with against Brighton. It's all about getting everybody fit and upto speed and doing what Pep wants.

My first thought was i think we'll play 60-70 minutes 3-5-2 again as it's a newer formation and may still have some ironing out to do but then that leaves players like Sane with very little pre-season unless he see's him as a genuine option at wing back and starts him there. Roberts too doesn't really get a look in in that formation if Pep wants to see more of him, and we've not seen the fullbacks play in a 4-3-3 system yet.

All that has me leaning towards us starting with the formation we played last season 4-3-3, the new fullbacks get a proper taste of that formation, with fullbacks that get up and support i'm sure that will mean a slightly different role for the wingers ahead of them in Sane,Sterling,Roberts potentially Bernardo to get used to too. We'll probably switch to a 3 at the back when the plethora of changes are made, good chance to see how seamlessly they can switch between the two.

One thing is for sure, it's great have the flexibility, and to think we couldn't predict Peps lineups last season, it's going to be impossible this season.

It would be surprising if we went into the new season without playing 433 or 4141 in any of the pre season games. This game should be about making sure that those players that are underdone get a run out and that we try a few options.

Not sure if already mentioned, but Michael Oliver is the Ref for this one.

Assistants: Steve Child, Constantine Hatzidakis
Fourth official: Neil Swarbrick

There's always summat to spoil a decent pre-season. Wonder if we have Mick the Bottler now, we won't see him again till 2018! Or is he lined up for the Dippers game. 'Nother handful of pens going begging!
