Too slow in the build up play. Was like a friendly. Poor.
This draw (feels like a loss) goes completely on the team selection.
1. Torres had to start. Sterling and Mahrez were playing continuously and 1 of them (Mahrez) had to be dropped.
2. Gundogan - Rodri again? Even after seeing it doesn't work?
3. Why is Eric Garcia starting? It makes our Leroy Sane stance look very very hypocritical.
I understand there is a tight fixture congestion, players feeling worn out and no fans making it even worse but this was a good opportunity to try our academy. Why was Delap playing for the U-23s when he could've started for us? Why are Palmer, Braaf, Nmecha, Doyle never given their opportunity in the PL?
Complaints:
1. Obsession of possession but just sideways passing
2. Trying to play as slow a side as possible
3. Playing worn out players without rotating the side causing more injuries
4. Not giving enough chances to our youth and academy: We may have a Sancho 2.0 in the academy and it may go unnoticed.
5. Poor recruitement : Rodri, Gundogan, Mahrez, Mendy, Zinchenko
> We needed a LB this summer. I can understand not going for a striker, we may be holding out for someone better next season.
6. Injury FC
Positives:
1. Foden looked good. Brought on pace, creativity and a winning aggressive mindset.
2. Quotes about Mahrez saying he wants to leave.
3. It's a long season, we may turn it around BUT questions need to be asked at the right time and the time is NOW.
I'm not denigrating Barca - one of the greatest teams to walk the earth. But as Bale says, their domestic league is easier - enables them to be fresher for the Champions League - world class players able to go flat out when required in those games. You mention Atletico and Sevilla - that's exactly my point. Those two, and very few other teams, give the big two a hard time in a typical season. Madrid have been signing marquee players they couldn't actually afford, for decades with impunity - bail-outs/handouts the lot. So yes, that made them a better opponent than any team in the prem.So Champions League is easy too? 4 European Cups since 2006 + regular semi finals on top of this.
To denigrate Barca's dynasty in any way is idiotic. They deserve all the credit for it.
and Real Madrid in most of those season were WAY better opponent than anything in the PL. PL is so tight because the clubs can't attract the crop of the cream.
Throw Atletico + Sevilla in the mix too.
But it does not matter how they did sign those players, they could attract them. PL clubs still can't.I'm not denigrating Barca - one of the greatest teams to walk the earth. Deliberate handball as well. If it was accidental and leads to a goal, it has to be chalked off doesn't it ?Still pissing me off that it was a blatant handball, all this last season it would have been is bullshit, handball is handball
Selling Bernardo? Did you see him against Arsenal?Well we are in a bit of a mess aren't we?
After a promising start at a tough place to go, Wolves, it's all been a bit hit and miss, mainly miss.
There are valid reasons why. No pre season, no proper rest and an horrendous injury record.
For me two decisions keep on coming back to haunt us. Still, after three seasons, not sorting out the left back position and going into seasons with only two forwards who are both prone to injuries. People can say we have Sterling and Mahrez but we see time after time they pass up great chances from good positions.
We badly need bodies back. Poor Dias has come in and instead of trying to form a partnership with Laporte he has a rookie kid who doesn't want to be here. This report if true means he needs to be binned from the squad but stubborn Pep won't do it.
"Eric Garcia plans to resist all of Pep Guardiola and #ManCity's efforts to ‘seduce’ him this season and return to Barcelona next year. Garcia has told friends he plans to return ‘home’ in January or next summer, and has made his decision for personal reasons."
We are in a major rebuilding job and unless we get players back fit and firing on all cylinders soon the title challenge will be over in weeks. Five points behind Liverpool, no guarantee we'll win the game in hand on present form and Liverpool to play soon. We could be 8-11 points behind them if we lose that game.
Players that need seriously looking at as to whether to replace or not are Cancelo, Stones, Mendy, Mahrez Rodri and Bernardo. The last may surprise a lot but one good season in three isn't the level we want or need. Gundogan could be thrown into that mix too if I'm honest. It's too big and it's that way because he players recruited for big money and wages just haven't come up to the standard we thought they would be.
It is what it is but we will probably have another disappointing season by our recent standards and see where we are at the end with Pep and the revamp.needed.
We'll have to agree to disagree. You misquote me. You can't compare the Prem to La Liga. I never said it was easy to keep the motivation going for 15 years. All I'm saying is Gareth Bale says Madrid and Barca only have a handful of tough domestic games a season. Who says we need to create a dynasty ?But it does not matter how they did sign those players, they could attract them. PL clubs still can't.
and on top of this, you also think its easy to keep up that kind of motivation for 15 years?
City can't even keep up the motivation for more than 2 years. We are absolutely miles off of any dynasty.
To be fair let's see how many tough games Bale plays for the Spuds this season. Im willing to bet it wont be more than 10We'll have to agree to disagree. You misquote me.
