West Ham away - making the last train back

Queuing at Upton Park London Underground station after a match can take up to an hour. As a result, the Metropolitan Police have suggested alternative travel arrangements.

Supporters travelling eastbound are asked to walk to Plaistow station. Walk along Green Street towards Upton Park station, turning left down Queens Road. Walking alongside the queue for Upton Park station on your right-hand side, following Queens Road for approximately 0.7 miles before turning left into A114/Pelly Road. After 200 yards, turn right into A112 / High Street and Plaistow station is on the other side of the road. This walk should take about 20 minutes.

Fans travelling westbound are asked to walk along Barking Road for 0.7 miles to the traffic lights outside East Ham Town Hall. Turn left into High Street North and continue for 0.4 miles to East Ham station on the right-hand side. This walk should take about 20 minutes.

A third alternative is to walk 1.7 miles to Forest Gate mainline station on the Greater Anglia network. To do so, supporters should follow Green Street northbound for 1.2 miles before turning left into Romford Road. After 400 yards, turn right into Woodgrange Road for a further 400 yards to Forest Gate station. This walk should take about 35 minutes.

Think the rules of the ticket forum is that requests for tickets don't get put up until the match has sold out. As of this morning, there were still West Ham tickets available.
exactly this. don't want to start excluding posters but this is a pretty simply rule. we don't ask or offer tickets until they have sold out. check the forum rules.

Not much of a difference between coach and train for me.

Coach - about 5 hours but drink a plenty - tea, coffee and juice that is.
Train - about 3.5 hours if you take tube etc into account, plenty of drink until the home trip when usually a dry train coming back these days.

Pros and cons

Much prefer the rattler to the coach and prepared to pay a reasonable difference in price for the privilege. I've done more than my fair share of coach journeys to London games down the years and while some aren't too much hassle, others have been an utter nightmare. The last straw for me was the semi against Chelsea in 2013. Went with the Bredbury branch and was a decent enough trip down, stopping in Watford for a while for liquid refreshment, but afterwards was shocking and it was no fault of the driver. Firstly we had to wait on Wembley's coach park for 3 or 4 people to board the coach who for some strange reason were a good half and hour or so later than everyone else in getting back on it (fucking hell, I even managed a cheeky swift pint at one of the mobile bars on the coach park and still beat these clowns onto the coach by over 30 minutes), by which time we were almost the last coach off there and into a shit load of crawling traffic. The match had ended shortly before 6pm and by 9pm we could still see the Wembley arch. We eventually disembarked the coach at around 12.45AM, nearly 7 hours after we'd got back on it.

There can be problems and delays with trains of course but generally the whole thing runs a lot smoother and quicker. Plus it's comfier and is usually a bit of an adventure if there are multiple trains involved or tube travel.

Seems abit early for a last train to be at 9PM. Regardless, i'd probably just get a coach anyway, preferably megabus for all the Londpn aways. Though I remember i had to get on my toes to catch that at Arsenal away last season.

Just a heads up for those travelling back by train. I see that all trains from Euston to Piccadilly between 19:00 and 21:15 are dry trains.
