Sooner or later we have to give Mendy another game or time from the bench even if he might initially be inferior to other options.
KDB was out for such a long time his game dipped and it is taking time to get back to his maximum level.
Zinchenko etc have done a fantastic job, but I have a slight doubt about their ability to defend when we are on the back foot, and we will be if we get further in the Champions League, so somewhere down the line we are going to have to bring Mendy back, even if he is going to be very rusty. There never is a right time to re-introduce a player who has been out for such a long time. Arguably you do it asap. Would tonight be the night?

Now that would be a sign that our injury situation is critical.I just want to see Mangala on the bench :) it's been a while.
Take our chances early and we will have a comfortable night. That will be the difference in winning easy and conserving energy for the weekend. One game at a time and all that but Bournemouth away will not be easy.
Miss the chances we will create and it will give West Ham confidence/belief and it will turn into a slog which wont be ideal after 120mins at Wembley.
Not as concerned about Dinho being missing this time around because we have Kompany fit and available. His leadership and drive will compensate.
