West Midlands Police still living in the 80's

Anyone going to games at West Midlands grounds in the 80's will recall what an absolute bunch of wankers the police were towards football fans.
It appears they are still stuck in the 80's.....
Hope the Barrow fan takes legal action against them

I remember at City the coppers could never understand that if you stood on the Kippax but needed to get to princess parkway for your bus it was perfectly reasonable to walk past the North Stand. Every week the prick on the horse used to just ride round twatting kids on the head with his truncheon.

I remember a piece in Blueprint, possibly written by you, about this lot, with the title, West Midlands Police Farce.

It seems nothing has changed.

Yes I wrote it, in This Charming Fan.
The game in November or December at cov in 1992, a few of us bought tickets in the Main Stand right above where the cops were taking fans they had nabbed. We kept shouting down 'what did you do?" And the Blues would shout "no idea" or "swearing".
They pulled around 22 blues out. At one point, the cops clearly pissed off at my antics replied "he did nothing" when I asked the question. I shouted back "so what are you pulling them out for"
The next thing 2 members of the bent bastards came and sat around us.....
In the meantime when cov scored both of their goals, (we won 3-2) their fans invaded the pitch only to be ushered gently back into their seats by the friendly stewards without a policemen in sight.
I wrote to the commanding.officer at Highfield Road asking for an explanation for his forces behaviour.
He politely replied that there are no need to have officers at the cov end because the home fans know what is expected of them and behave accordingly.... you couldn't make it up. 2 pitch invasions and everyone helped back to their seats by very helpful stewards. One "fuck off" and you are thrown out.

What a load of bollocks. So there there was no police problems with fans pre 1978?
So you never went to a match home or away in the early and mid 70?
Absolutely anything or everything that goes on in the world is the Tories fault. You have clearly never been over to the politics thread, but more recently it’s every thread, as there is no one to argue with over there anymore as they all preach the same gospel.

It was definitely in Blueprint, as I never bought This Charming Fan.

Lost our way coming out of Villa Park in the late 70s. Villa fans attacking random City fans on the streets. Asked a copper the way to the train station, he said he didn’t know and pointed to a group of Villa fans and said ask them.
