Have recently had a drink spilt over my laptop,
Thought it might dry out but no such luck,
When plugged in it powers up for a couple of seconds, screen goes white then completely dies,
No power at all from the battery.

Just asking to see if anyone knows a simple solution for this or is it as i suspect completely fucked?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Gaz it appears you have flooded the mother board, i would personally take it to your local pc shop and see what they suggest dont bother with pc world they charge a fortune, but i would think its a new mother board, graphics card, sound card and maybe more replacing..... get a new one.
If your local i would have a look at it for you i know a little.

was it a drink ..or was you watching porn and jizzed on it ..and now its wet n sticky

The real problem with Laptops is that pretty much everything that makes them run is under they keyboard (Duh!), but what makes it worse is there is no protection between the two, odds are good that the drink has fried pretty much everything involved.

Take it to aria.

Aria House
Belle Vue Avenue
Pottery Lane
Manchester
M12 4AS

They're quality and not too expensive.

pm me, we specialise in laptop repairs. No labour charge, just component if you want it doing and we'll do that at cost. It will be the board. Worst case scenario if it isn't worth fixing I can get your data and transfer it to something like USB Drive, External Drive or DVD, again no charge.

sorry you've reached us a bit late with this.... anything electrical that gets soaked like this - stick it in a box of dry uncooked rice and leave it for a couple of days (until all the moisture is drawn out) but before you turn it on again.

this can revive cellphones that have been dunked down the toilet, and also notebooks... if you could have taken it apart and done this with the motherboard & components separately this would speed things up for you.

but before you turn it on again

that's the key thing, too late now but taking a laptop apart is not a simple thing. Then getting it back together again is another story. Sony's are a real pain in the ass. Most independant pc repair shops send them off to a specialist for that reason. We repair them in house.

Aria are okay, very competive on pricing for new components and in fact probably the cheapest in the UK for most stuff. I know them pretty well, but I wouldn't use the words quality and repairs in the same sentance especially when one of their techies is scouse.......

I like to call them spring loaded disaster zones. There aren't actually many springs, but fuck me there's alot of screws. Laptops are the bane of my existance at work.
