We've not replaced Elano

Has anyone kept count of days without the Elano thread?

There's an unwritten rule on here that someone must create an Elano or a Richard Dunne thread a few days after we lose or get a disappointing draw.

Not saying we should have kept him, as he was clearly a negative influence in this team, but that "lock picker" is just what is needed.

I suppose Ireland was earmarked for this role, but on reflection we should have gone for a modern day Ali B or Berkovic to keep everyone on their toes.

Couldn't agree more. Elano had to go because of his attitude and disruptive influence, but we're crying out for a creative midfielder with a bit of guile and craft. Ireland can do it when his head is in right place, but whilst he flirts with other clubs he looks off the pace. We desperately need a playmaker, and a box to box midfielder in the summer transfer window. And two new full backs.

what about diego from juventus or van der vaart from madrid.

Diego would probably flop in England, too many warning signs of the vintage Brazilian who can go off the boil.

But VDV could be a huge hit here. He's great for Real at the moment, better than Kaka, but Real is a bizarre club and may sell both he and Higuain (their top scorer) if they can find some more superduperstars.

Sneijder would've been perfect, but he probably wouldn't have come to City. And I suspect the same is true with van der Vaart, unless we get Champion's League.

This type of player is a rare commodity.
Probably only ten in the world of that class, but he didn't like the Taffia so he had to go!
I am sure that Bobby Manc would used that talent.

It's a measure of how those players were appreciated by some supporters.
It is a forum.

This is without doubt the best squad we have ever had. We still have a great chance of making the top four, but we never replaced Elano. Fact.

We do need a creative midfielder without a doubt, but Elano is/was not the answer in anyway shape or from, the guy is grossly overrated on here at times. I can name over 10 midfielders that play in his position that would benefit our team much more.

Im sure we can find an overpaid moody brazilian to sit on the bench for 36 games a season, then have 1 amazing game. Then when i come on this forum everyone can tell me how should be world player of the year, before he walks about in the next game does fuck all and gets subbed off, then when i come on here it would be he is shit or sack the manager for subbing the player

Thats pretty much the rules of Bluemoon right?

not been on BM much until recently so apologies if this is a tired subject, it wasn't really intended to sing the praises of Elano, just to pinpoint our shortcomings of not replacing him.

Like some have alluded to, we should have gone for Van Der Vaart, Sneijder (my personal fave) or similar.

As I alluded to, a while ago, the removal of Elano came at a time he had actually decided to knuckle down and turned in some wonderful and consistent performances.

But, Hughes had had his infamous man management skills tested. His personal war came at the expense of our club. Even having a unpredictable playmaker is better than having none.

Loads of you scream "Get him out!" without the foresight of knowing how short it would leave us, in the 'guile' department! Some of us argued that Ireland could go off the boil, but the Screamers cried we need a hard-working midfield suited to the Prem. We have that, but your not happy.

And now we need a Locksmith... Go figure.

The idiocy is incredible on this board, at times.

funny that
you could substitute the word elano with robinho, and hughes with mancini and it would be just as true
except a different set of 'idiots'

Precisely. Or Ireland or NdJ or Given, me thinks.

Give me strength, it's a neverending set of fools with the same opinions.

I believe he is exactly the player this current side is missing but we really need to move on now.
