For USERS of WhatsApp.

WhatsApp has changed its GROUP settings to include “everyone” by default so people you don’t know can add you to a group without your knowing. These people may include scam messages, loan Sharks, etc. You can change its default settings as follows:

1. Go to WhatsApp:
2. Go into Settings
3. Go to Account
4. Go to Privacy
5. Go to Groups
6. Change from (Everyone) to (My Contacts)

Hope this is useful.

Is this different to before? Because I get added to a whatsapp group by someone at work every week and I don't have some of the managers in my contacts.

Depends how you set it up originally.
I had set it to contacts only and the app recently had reset itself to everyone.

mine had "changed" to everyone, i say changed because i'm not sure what the setting was before, how would someone be able to scam you as part of a group ?

Check the other settings in there too.
Several of mine had changed to “everyone” from “contacts”.
