I was there last year, try Nimes if you've not been, got some great reds down there. I like Dijon as well.

as you go past each village you try and remember the wine

used to go up it every summer from 91 to 96

Will be, used it to cut up and across to Troyes, but we had 3 and a bit weeks to just potter around so I sort of zigg zagg'd France instead of doing north no south, was a great holiday.
