Crystal Castles' new track 'Pleague'.

It's not the best.
Crystal Castles' sound was always something that inspired other people - its unique feature being the combination of indie, electronic, 8-bit production and dance/pop - but 'Plagues' sounds like it was inspired by fairly middle-of-the-road witch-house acts.
It could easily work as a shorter, more concise, punchier 3-minute track. But instead it feels like it's been stretched out over 5 minutes for no real reason other than because they can.
It's still a good song and it may sound better sandwiched between two tracks on the album they're releasing soon - it still has Alice Glass' unique vocal style that reminds me that it's still Crystal Castles, there's definitely an indication that they've matured and refined their sound further and hell, the new atmosphere they're trying to creating is nice to be caught up in - but it's just not the Crystal Castles I know.
