Last night I had Rory live in San Diego on from 1974. Quite brilliant. It still had the rawness of his 70’s period but the modern production gave it a clarity.
He also seems to have tailored his set to an American audience. Loved it but still had a longing for the dirty raw gutty sound of Irish Tour of the same year.
So this morning I put All Round Man on;
This is live in London around 1990.
A much more polished Rory with a full band including harmonica. There are some really nice touches on it. Very enjoyable, although the voice has lost a bit of it’s edge and as I said earlier, I do miss the rawness of his seventies work, both as a three piece and a four piece.
