It’s all about demographics putting it bluntly, and each year there being less original 60s music lovers with us. Personally I don’t agree with it, but with Radio 1 going for such a narrow age group, Radio 2 faces what seems to me to be an almost impossible task of trying to cater for everyone from 30 to 100 years old!He and his team played stuff you've never heard before or since.

The programme has been dumbed down hugely and many loyal listeners have bailed due to the predictable music choices.
The show is currently aired at a niche timeslot (0600 Sat) so it's not like there will be that many live listeners to lose.
There are several excellent presenters on Local and Community stations who do this sort of thing much better than Tony Blackburn and I listen to a good selection of them but many can't be arsed to scour the world of Internet Radio to find those shows.
