I think you have to have an understanding and general interest in the Manson Family and the context around it which I do. It was a very bizarre thing that could only have happened where it did and when it did, mental 60s in hippie land around luvvies basically. Its really a laugh of a film set around that, half poking fun at the shite films and industry that made it at that time, and how it could have come about given that, and an alternate reality at the end. Great watchI actually think that is one of Tarentino's poorest films, a lot of people rate it mind.
