What Book are you Reading.................RIGHT NOW!!!

Mckenzie, have you seen the film of "dragon tattoo"? Must admit I missed it. It didn't stay long at my cinema and it slipped under my radar. Seems to have gotten good reviews. Luckily the DVD is out in July. Think that the second film is due in August?

Note your comments re the fact that some have questioned whether he has written them. Also, I understand that his family have stuck their oar in about the royalties and that his partner of 20 years is being frozen out Stories like that make me sick.

Missed the film too andy, but will be getting the DVD. Not sure I really want to see Salander on screen though, as I have this image of her in my head that I don't want threatened.

Apparently the author didn't leave a will that meant much? And everything went to his Dad (who he had a difficult relationship with) and his brother (I think, may be wrong). And now his partner is refusing to hand over the beginnings of the fourth book that she has on his laptop, because of the fighting over his estate.

Sad really. And sad he didn't really get to see what enjoyment his books have given to so many people.

Isn't this so much more civilised than 20-odd threads about twatting video games? Is it an age thing? Do young 'uns still read books?

Here, here. I like coming on here for the good stuff. Some of the tosh on here is just embarassing (i expect people will now tell me that if I don't like it then f**k off).

Before the two Millenium books I read "Last Night in Twisted River" - the latest John Irving. I just love his books. Great characterisation. He just keeps getting better though the constant re-emerging themes do get on ones tits somewhat. Any other Irving fans on here?

Yeah, well some do anyway. All my family including me read loads, doesn't stop me playing xbox though ;)

I'm currently working my way through 'Sustainable Development in Practice: Case Studies for Engineers and Scientists' A book written by one of my lecturers that she's shamelessly plugged throughout the course, with exams coming up I thought I better give a go. It's boring as anything, made even worse by the big pile of books I've got stacked up to read for pleasure and won't get round to for a while yet :(

tbh iv never read a book in my life (well finished one)

How old are you lee?

You need to get a book where the subject matter really interests you. Doesn't have to be fiction.

Then you get the bug.

I read non fiction a lot (won't tell you the subject matter, it will no doubt bore you to death) but seriously, get something you know you will interest you and take it from there.

House of Cards about the collapse of Bear Sterns bank in the US

Would you beleive that in a four day period in March 2008 they had $18bn (that's $18,000million!) of their cash assets walk out the door as their clients pulled their money out,

They went from a share price of $175 per share in early 2007 to being forced by the US Govnt into selling themselves to rival J P Morgan for $4 per share in April 2008

it's mindblowing how these financial markets work, and it's our pension funds and savings they gamble with!
