What City player was most over rated by our own fans

Denis Law... What can we look back on that was any good?

Law was only 20 when City signed him just before deadline day in March 1960. At the end of the following season he was transferred to Torino. He wasn't around for very long but he was a shining light in an abysmal side. He came back in 1973-74 and scored THAT goal but clearly the rags had the best of him.

Balotelli. Still waiting on him morphing into the new Zlatgod or fat Ronaldo.

12 goals in 13 games since he left seems like a pretty decent start.
Boom.

About 7 were peno's.
lies.

Why's it lies Sweep baby?

Kazi Deyna. Brilliant when he played in Poland, he comes to City in a swop deal for washing machines etc, puts on a sky blue City shirt, and never looked like the player he was in Poland.

No mention for Clive Allen?
Kinkladze for me though.

-- Mon Aug 05, 2013 9:14 pm --

Denis Law carried City in his first spell according to my dad.

Elano.

Looked like a world beater in his first dozen or so games, but with the exception of the classic Hamburg game, he offered precisely fuck all else. Definitely one of the laziest players we've had.

Agree. He was like an Advent Calendar, nothing there after Christmas.
Gutted he turned out to be so useless.

I was also massively underwhelmed by two players after all the pre-signing hype.
Rodney Marsh. Signing him cost us the title and then he cost us the League Cup.
Trevor Francis, seem to remember him getting sent off in his first game back after injury. Never worth a million quid.

Read through this and some good shouts. But how can anyone name players who've actually won stuff? We were so bad for so long, whilst (at times) hero worshipping guys who never achieved anything in the game. Its got to be wrong to go for any of the PL or FA cup winning team. They aren't or weren't over-rated. They are winners. FACT

Nicky Reid,Paul Moulden,Stephen Ireland,in fact a lot of the lads that came through the youth set up.
They got an easier ride than some of the signings, because they were seen as City through and through, although people seem to be a bit circumspect these days.
Although they are always exception to every rule Paul Power,Willie Donachie and Richard Edghill, used to get slaughtered on the Kippax.

This thread has depressed the life out of me! So many fellow blues talking such unbelievable crap! Good lord what are we becoming?
