What do you collect

I collect sugar!! Well, packets of sugar!
My dad started the collection BITD when they were very scarce, and I just carried on collecting.
It was weird as he was a type 1 diabetic!
I now have literally thousands, in cardboard boxes from all around the world! (Packets of sugar, not cardboard boxes )
I get any friends to pick me up packets, from anywhere they go, especially, when they go on holiday!
(There you go Neil )

Sport biographies. If I see one in a charity shop I buy it. Anyone and any sport, got loads I haven't read. Rugby and cricket seem to be the best (funnier) but frank worthingtons get a special mention too.

I collected the footballs from every World Cup since I was born (1967) and have them mounted on display. Keyrings from each of the tournaments too below the balls. It was enjoyable buying one a month. Bit of a pain in the arse having to pump them up twice a year though. :-)

I used to have a fine collection of rare & collectable vinyl, Sub Pop , early Drum & Bass , electronics, Techno, ambient, metal, Punk Jazz, 4AD, Indie, etc.. then I asked my sister to just look after them while I moved house, she put them in her leaky, rat infested shed she ended up binning the lot.. !! some were rare even then, now to replace them at £40-£50 a pop, forget it!!!
I have about 20 old analogue/film cameras, & I’m trying to collect design & graphics books for the shelves of my design studio I will be renovating once our house has been renovated & I can move all the storage boxes out. All I’m collecting now is bills for renovation work!

Cap badges from the army, they're in my dads loft though and I haven't been up in years to check them have some belters. One is my Great Uncles who died on D Day bless him.

Does she live at The Swamp then?

Coins and old notes and books.

I have just completed a full set of 1894 coins to go into a frame with the first photo of a team that bore the name Manchester City, as well as the first team sheet.

9 coins in total ranging from a farthing to a crown and a gold sovereign to top it all off and make it 10.

When I worked for the council we had to empty a house of two old Jewish printers who had passed and they were major hoarders. I found a massive jar of Threepenny bits all with the same date of 1967, how they ended up with so many ill never know.

I'm convinced the world of antiques and collectibles is going to die off.

My father in law used to be a rare book dealer. He was telling me how certain topics were a hit, steam trains, military and anything linked to expensive consumer stuff like old cameras or cars. But kids these days don't give a toss about steam trains and especially old books on steam trains. The appeal of this stuff will drop of a cliff once the boomer generation dies out.

I'd say what happens is people collect stuff they associate with their childhood. So people from my generation are more likely to collect things like Pokemon,Wrestling,Classic Videogames ect. I was crazy about the military as a teen so I collected commando books that my Grandad gave me and model tanks and stuff.

True, but stuff just isn't rare. It's like the price or rolex watches. Roles are mass produced now. They are sold in huge numbers. The top selling models of watches used to be cheap casio or something. Now it's rolex as no one Where's watches anymore. People have phones.

So will the value of rolex hold as they are perceived as valuable but in reality are sold in mass volume.

And will the value of old phones rise. Will a mint apple iPhone be worth holding onto? I have a version 1 apple phone. I'm keeping it.

My mum passed away recently she has left a good few jars of different coins ranging from pre second world war to collectable £5 and 50p coins. Do you know anywhere around Manchester I could get them valued?
