What do you do when you have four days off and don't go anyhere?

Lately I've taken up sailing/ windsurfing in a river/ outlet near me.

Nothing expensive like a sailboat that I have pay to park in a marina and fix for leaks to prevent it from sinking but rather just a cheap windsurfing board.

I enjoy being alone, getting the wind in my face and I like it for destressing.
Nice. I take it that is not in the Irwell?

I’d probably have four days that go something like this (if there’s no City game involved in the four days):

Day 1
Switch alarm off before bed the night before
Get up when I wake up naturally in the morning
Good shower and just throw on some comfy t-shirt+shorts and laze about all day

Day 2
Get up when I wake up naturally in the morning
Quick shower and off to a decent coffee shop for a bit of breakfast and nice coffee
Walk round the shops for a bit
Get some decent food in for tea and cook something nice that you can get a few meals out of
Watch a bit of tele

Day 3
Get up when I wake up naturally in the morning
Shower and after a bit of a laze about for a bit, head down the pub for some dinner and an afternoon on the pints
Head home and laze about the rest of the evening

Day 4
Lie in
Laze about all day watching some series and films
Reheat the rest of what I cooked on Day 1 for tea
Get ready for work the next day and switch my alarm back on for the morning.

Magic makes this sound all so idyllic.
In truth this is his 4 days.
Day one, go for a walk in the sun.
Day 2. Smear all bare areas with sunburn lotion, wipe off, apply midge bite cream then re- apply sunburn cream
Day 3 Look out the window at incessant rain cursing the one good good day of the year
Day 4 see day 3.

My son and his wife have come to visit, having a barbie. My son and I both made marinades for the chicken. I'm not saying its a competition, but it certainly is.

Not only have you let yourself down, but Manchester itself.

I've got over 100,000 full resolution RAW files in my current catalogue. 95,000 are already backed up on separate drives, but I've got around 5000 I need to update the file names, keyword and categorise, and then do a full backup of the active catalogue file. It's well over a weeks work, and It's something I should have been doing weekly, but I let it slip, and now I'm playing catch-up.
I'm not sure you've quite got the concept of this thread

Well I now have that Friday feeling, not, lets get our best togs on and lets go out. No, calm down, lets not put our best togs on at all. My son and daughter in law are getting ready to go for a walk, leaving me to my own self serving devices. My plan is to make coffee, sit in the garden and then have an alfresco lunch, whilst listening to music and podcasts. I may stare blankly into the distance. Sing along to a few songs. My Friday feeling usually centres around doing what I want. Or, to be more precise, not doing things I cant he bothered with. not always possible on an ordinary Friday, but it is not an ordinary Friday, when I am off, its super fuckall horrible stuff Friday.

Wish me well. Fuckall is an artform..

Long ago I heard John Bird (of Bremner, Bird & Fortune) describing a job in the civil service.

Not sure if it was himself or something he'd been told. It was the days of over employment, not enough work for the people in the department. (I can remember this a bit as an apprentice in my company offices around 1980 or so).

What does the job involve? "Well and awful lot of leaning back in my chair staring into the middle distance" he answered. "In fact that's what's wrong with this country today, not enough staring into the middle distance"

Magic, we've discussed this
many times. We've also discussed it with your carer and that weirdo from Social Services.
You live in Scotland. Your allocated days for sun are June 5th, July 21st and August 1st (between 1039am and 1.25pm)

You shouldn't keep sitting in the garden, especially in April.

Oh and your son was only there to check you hadn't changed your will.

:-)

Global warming has its upsides too. You are correct though about our sunny day allocation normally. I will give you that.

I missed this last night. It might have something to do with me and visit to the pub...... anyway I digress.
What an excellent track. I love Latin American music, it's very evocative.
