What famous fans do we have?

Is that Pat Barrett the boxer, used to go by the nickname "The Black Flash" ??
Yes he is. Taught me how to box back in the 80s when I was a kid. Trained us so hard but the fitness kept with me all my life. Had the world at his fists at one time but couldn't stay out of trouble unfortunately. His sons a decent fighter these days.

I live next door to his brothers ex- partner. They have a daughter ,a lovely young woman. I believe that Pat and his brother run a security company named " Black Flash Security".
I've never met either of them to be fair.

I remember her.
Didn't she sing " Lilac Wine", and also " Pearls a Singer" ??
Funnily enough Elkie Brooks' real surname was Bookbinder - John Bookbinder (BBC Present Susan's brother) played for City, though sadly died years ago... don't know if there's a family connection

Yes, they are all part of the same extended family. There was also a club called Bookbinders near Minshull Street in town, and that was also part of the family connection.

I believe that Elkie Brooks was called Elaine Bookbinder .

She released an album called “Bookbinder’s Girl.”

Yes he does. And if its Mike you're talking about(major dreads) he's a belting lad.

I wonder if that photo was taken when he was playing a concert at Maine Road ??
I have no idea if he ever played on the hallowed turf during his singing career.
Great photo though.
yeah, he played a gig at Maine Rd. I used to work with someone who'd been employed by the external auditors of City at the time, Boardman Woolrich. Claimed to be a City supporter himself although never did anything other than verbally rubbish the club. He never shut up about the fact that City actually lost money on this concert...

had he been doing his job properly as an auditor, he really should have looked under P J Swales's bed for the missing cash.
