As someone else has said, it all depends on who we sign!
Defenders are a must, and we need strikers but will he buy one or two? If it is 1 he may play 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-2 with Robi just off the front man. if he signs 2 i can see him playing 4-1-3-2 (which is my favourite formation, simply 4-4-2 with a defensive midfielder dropping back to make the 1), with SWP and Robi being the players rotated from the starting line up and bench depending on who we play.
We need enough players in the squad to have 2 strong teams worth, 2 players for each position, this is where Everton and Villa cannot break into the top 4 as they have very good starting teams but they dont have enough to back up any suspensions/injuries etc.(Villa more than Everton), this is where we will need to be strong to have any chance of finishing above these 2 plus Spurs who will also be strong this season!
The starting 11 could look anything like these:
-------------Given-------------------
Johnson--Kompany--Lescott--Bridge
------------De Jong------------------
SWP--Ireland--Barry--Robinho
------------Dzeko----------------
or

SWP--------Ireland--------Barry

With my 'squad team' (who will not just be in the reserves, they will play a vital role coming off the bench or filling in for suspensions/injuries or players who just need a rest or are out of form) will look like this:
----Scmeichel(Hart loaned to Brum)--
Richards--Dunne--Onuoha--McGivern
-------------Zabaletta-------------
Weiss---------Elano---------Petrov
------Bellamy-------Bojinov/Caicedo--
