What happens if we don't' get top four?

Guardiola is coming to win us the Champions League. How the fuck does he do that if we're not in it?

Qualify for it next season and win it the season after that with a stronger team.

Pep is coming regardless, stop worrying. Besides I think we will achieve top four anyway.

I think we will get top 4 and fairly easily. But that might just be my natural optimism..?

If we do not though, that means year one of pep's tenure is impossible to win the CL. assuming we get back into it the year after and also assuming that Pep will by that stage be courting his next project as he usually does in his second year of a contract, will he be focused on it? Im not so sure.

Let me be clear though. I do not place any blame on Manuel for this possibility. As somebody pointed out earlier he has been seriously and possibly fatally undermined during his time here by Txiki who has been openly plotting pep's succession. What has that said to the players ? "You can take this guy or leave him lads, you'll have another new manager next season anyway. Don't worry about it". He did the same thing to Mancini, ironically with Manuel and that cost us a cup final.

If we have pep for 3 years and the first of those is without CL football, txiki has to answer with his job.

Or maybe I'm just a bit pissed , I dunno.

We dont deserve top 4 with the crap with been playing this season in the league.

its like its a case of "lets win a cup, try and get further the Chumps League and we guaranteed a top 3 because no one will be a surprise and the regulars will be as bad as we are".

We get all we deserve, simples.

Were going to be laughing stock again. We get the worlds best coach and give him Europa league to work with. Its a shambles.

This thread is ripe with Rag lurkers. We're in 4th spot with 10 matches remaining, the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

If we don't get top4 then we don't deserve it,and guardiola can build a team that do....

Why is anyone shocked? We have been turned into the Pep project by two of the most overated and hated *wats in world football. So blinkered were they to any chance that Mancini could be an option, we have wasted 3 seasons and £150 million on bullshit. So poor has been the choices made, that now when the Pep has confirmed he is coming we face potentially the same position as when Mancini joined, no CL.

Wasted? sorry bud but you are talking nonsense, we did win the title you know, how can that possibly be considered a waste of a season?

I am in the here and now but remember very well how i used to feel when we were a stocking filler club.
The derby and maybe a cup run always with the slight whiff of relegation near us mostly.

You are the first person i have heard say Txiki and ferran are hated and over rated.

I am getting the feeling here this you are still bitter about Mancini going which is fair enough, to say we "wasted" 3 years though is an absolute insult to every other fan who would kill to be where we are. Not just that but the management team and club as a whole, you make it sound so simple right at the very top when the reality is the absolute opposite from what i can see. The fact Kevin De Bruyne wears our shirt makes your statement about "poor choices" seem hollow and unfounded tbh.

You paint a very warped and inaccurate picture imo.

I doubt the master plan was for Guardiola to come in and have to start building a new team, I reckon those who run the club and the owner were expecting he take over the prem league champions and improve them to win the UCL during his tenure, which will probably be for only three years.
Therefore it maybe seen as a crisis if we don't make top 4.

Ha ha ha. Seen more rags on this thread than at your empty red stadium. Sad rag fucks. Keep posting, keep us amused.

We're very lucky that all the teams ahead of us are catchable and those behind us have had their own problems (United, Liverpool and especially Chelsea) or we would have had a mare of a League campaign.
I fully expect us to make top 4 and this debate to be redundant in the next few games but don't think the title's on now.

Criticism of Txiki on here is just laughable.

Which other executive in world football could have got Pep to consider, let alone accept, our job and are we sure that 3 years is all he will stay? If he has a good working relationship with the DoF and a project that is not finished is it not possible that he would stay longer?

He will have to stay longer to sort out the shambles he will inherit.

It's not an over reaction, some posts are silly yes, but generally it's been on the money.

That the league is so poor, and fuck me is it, has saved some bacon if you look at it that way.

I can't believe some of the stats I read, some are so bad I scratch my head wondering quite how we are in the top 4.

3 successful league defeats
Our home record shot
8 league defeats
3 points from 33 against current top 8
The amount of hammerings we have taken
Our record against top 4
Our away record is bolloxed
The amount we have conceded

All are records since the takeover. It's incredible.

The core has finished and our recruitment and foresight to replace has been quite shocking. We have spent fucking loads on total mediocrity

This nails it, it really shows some alarming statistics.

Pep will definitely come, and lets look at this another way. Pep arrived at Bayern just as they had won the treble - that puts a whole lot of pressure on Pep to deliver the dame or better at Bayern.

Now I am definitely not saying that we are coasting along on purpose, but this is working in his favour because it is a win/win situation. The fans will be glad that he has arrived, the squad will be re-jigged and performances will improve along with tactics.

However top four even finishing fourth is the bare minimum that we have to now achieve

Maybe Pep as told Pellers not to qualify for the Champs League as the squad cannot cope.

Early Europa League exit in the qualifiers, to concentrate on building a league team in his first season.

It's the only explanation - in my head.

One things for sure we fucked up big time announcing the Pep decision when we did.
We've been shit since then, 6th at best this season, another 4-5 defeats guaranteed

Definitely true but that again was Pellegrini's decision as he was fed up with the speculation - he should have got on with it the money we're paying him. That's definitely had an effect on the way we've gone into freefall since.

Have you considered giving your head a wobble, I think it probably needs it.
