What happens if we don't' get top four?

The Liverpool match was a classic trap game coming at the end of a closely spaced run of fixtures where we are obviously tired, emotionally drained, missing key players, and have nothing left in the tank. A draw at Anfield would have been a great result, but in hindsight we are not much worse off than before the match in the table and still have a game in hand versus our rivals. The issue is that we have lost three in row in the league and must turn this around immediately. I think if we can get some legs back we will do just that. We'll probably end up in the low 70s points wise, good enough for top 4, hopefully top 3. We really miss KDB and Silva must be carrying an injury as there no other way to explain the transformation from Merlin to Sorcerer's Apprentice. Have faith. We will not slide out of top 4!

Not having that as an excuse at all.
They also played on Sunday too, remember, so should be just as tired, and arguably more emotionally drained.
They missed Lucas, Sturridge, and Coutinho. Akin to us missing Silva, and Aguero, and whoever you believe to be Lucas' equivalent.
They started with Toure, and Lovren at the back - neither of them are their 1st choice CBs, so let's say for us that is Demi and Mangala.
We played last Wednesday, they played on Thursday. We both made a similar amount of changes for the game.

The energy shown by them was worlds ahead of ours.

City fixtures: Villa (H), Norwich (A), United (H), Bournemouth (A), WBA (H), Chelsea (A), Stoke (H), Southampton (A), Arsenal (H), Swansea (A)
United fixtures: WBA (A), West Ham (H), City (A), Everton (H), Spurs (A), Villa (H), Leicester (H), Norwich (A), Bournemouth (H)

I'm taking it as a given we're dropping points against United, Chelsea, Southampton & Arsenal given our form against decent opposition this season. Honestly think it's going to be tough, we need to be significantly clear going into the last 4-5 games of the season as United have a nice run there & we have a tough run. Just have to hope the teams beneath us keep messing up more than we do as I can't see us magically finding form that's not been there all season.

As for missing top 4 I think it'd be a bit of a disaster really, I'm sure Pep would still come however the players we're linked with (Pogba/Gundogan etc.) I just don't see picking us over say Barcelona if we're in the Europa league - and we quite need those sorts of players.

I actually think Arsenal are not sure either. I think Leicester are nailed on now for top 4 and Spurs will make it.
I'd say we have 4 hard games to their 5. We have the game in hand too.

We've got Newcastle away to fit in too - won't be easy as likely they'll be battling against the drop. But United have played West Ham at home, they've still to go to Upton Park, the home game is the FA Cup.

I'd agree with that, they're certainly not safe either. And it's not exclusively United chasing, West Ham and others are just as capable of picking up enough points to trouble us.

They changed five outfield players, we could only manage two.
If I was a betting man I would have bet the ranch on a dippers win.
If I was a mindreader I might understand MP's substitutions,,.........
