Don't worry, "the machines", i.e. AI will take over soon anyway. And I am not even joking. We are a virus that is slowly but surely killing its host, there is no antidote for human selfishness and greed.
It'll all be down to the last man standing, coughing and spluttering his/her/their way into an early grave and blaming somebody else for it.
We are creating machines that will soon be more intelligent than us, and VERY soon after that, unconstrained by our limited human biology, will be MASSIVELY more intelligent. And once this happens, there is absolutely nothing to suggest, let alone guarantee, that they will have our interests at heart. Or even give a toss. We will be like flies to them. Hopefully interesting flies. If we are not interesting then it's game over for humanity in 100 years or so anyway. Intelligent biological life on Earth will have become a transient, fleeting "blip" on the chart of our 4.5 billion year history.
