I disagree.

We play Real Madrid in the CL Final and we have a best 11.

Depends what Pep sees that can be exploited in the Madrid team. Certain aspects of their play might suit playing Gundogan over Bernardo, or Foden over Grealish, or vice versa, Walker to deal with Venicius Jr even if it means playing Cancelo on the other side even if he’s had a poor season so we don’t have two too defensive full backs by playing Walker and Ake despite Ake being brilliant this season.

We played Chelsea in the CL final and Pep diverged from what we all thought was our strongest team but he will have done that because he thought that particular line-up could exploit certain things in Chelsea’s style… they just didn’t do it.

In the end I went for more energy in CM.

This... Even if Phil has a lack of experience in the middle, at the bare minimum he gives us legs and energy there.

Our best 11 depends on whom we are playing and on form. We're extremely deep.

Assuming that the opposition is good and we need to win with no injuries to our squad and assuming 4231 on offense then something like this::

x positions are flexible.

But we'll switch up formations so even the formation will change. But Ederson/Ake/Rodri/Haaland will all likely start.

Phil/Julian/Ortega/Gundo/Lewis/Laporte are Subs that would not reduce the quality of the team and would present different problems to the opposition.
Akanji has been a good purchase but personally I feel he is suspect in the air and would not get in our best 11.
Phillips/Gomez/Palmer aren't ready for the best opposition.
