What is the one book......

Tales from Ovid - Ted Hughes

I have three copies. one is the copy i flipped through always so it's tattered. another is a hardback in the shelves. and a hardcover as part of a set of hardcover coffeetable books. mostly City books like the Champions square book with great pics and other City picture books.

tales from ovid has been my favourite book for almost two decades now.

Watchmen.

Best thing i've ever read, but most people wouldn't read it because it's a comic.

It's a fucking masterpiece in how to craft a tale.

Fucking great call.

This is one of the very few books I have read that bears repeated reading.

I don't usually enjoy war books but his prose is exceptional and I don't think I will ever read a better anti war manifesto.

Should be made compulsory reading.

It's a great comic. I've read some Alan Moore, The Crow (James O'Barr), and Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. I prefer Neil's style, but all excellent.

One of my favourites is The Catcher in the Rye but do I think everyone should read it? No. I know too many people who didn't appreciate it at all whilst I think it's genius.[/quote]

I'm in the "Total Bag of Shite" camp

two books I have read recently that i thoroughly enjoyed are:-

the hundred year old man who climbed out of a window and disappeared......Jonas Jonasson

the sacred art of stealing......Christopher Brookmyre

but the best book I ever read was Philip Pullmans " His Dark Materials", but as its really three books, I'm withdrawing it, as I know how pedantic some of you fuckers can be.
