What is the solution in everyone's opinion

Simple, see what progress we make and decide in the Summer.

If Mancini has begun to show signs of improving both our results and performances, even in a small way, then he should stay. The last thing we need is yet more upheaval if there is no need.

I believe this is one of two possible scenarios. The other is that we already have another manager lined up and Mancini is merely a stopgap.

Tell Given he's sacked if he hoofs the ball forward EVER again:had to hoof it last night so we dont give them the throw.

Tell Adebayor he's sacked if we see him in our half of the pitch. Or on the side lines. had to come and get the ball himself as he wasnt seeing anything comeing his way unless he did.

Tell Ireland he's sacked if he doesn't shoot when within 20 yards of the goal. didnt get the opitunity to shoot from 20 yards last night.

1. ? Eh? Why can't he throw it to one of the back four? Every time Given hoofs it long, we give the ball away.

2. I wasn't talking about last night. But anyway, what is the point of having a big strong front man who is great in the air, if when we want to cross to him, he's not bloody there? I'd rather he hung around doing nothing than came looking for the ball in our own half.

3. Again, not talking about last night. Generally, Ireland needs to get his shooting boots on. Far too much "To you", "No to you", "No after you"> "Bugger, we've given the ball away again".

Watch Barca (I know I keep using them as an example but they are the best team in the world so why not eh!?) when Victor Valdes has the ball - their defensive midfielder stands on the D and both centre backs go down the side, yes the side, of the 18 yard box and their full backs stay a little wider and further forward! in the centre of midfield they have one who drops deeper, say 10 yards forward of the defensive midfielder who's stood on the D, and another who roams! then as soon as the ball is played and active, there are at least 3 or 4 options for the player on the ball

Sounds good to me. I don't understand why the keeper hoofing it forward is a good idea though. Maybe as an exception when the opposition are all out of position and you can hit them quickly on the break.

But as a general principle, how can deliberately going from having the ball (i.e. in the keepers hands) to contesting the ball (i.e. it's in the air and neither team has it) be a good idea? It's madness.

I might add, it's even worse madness when you have de Jong, Bellamy, Sweep, Ireland and other midgets as targets.

I am not going to start a "bring Sven back" thread, but he did understand this and we did play our best football in the post Keegan era under Sven.

Chelseas had to turn over a number of players to find the assets they now have, City have unearthed some gems, found some good squad players and realised some players aren't up to much. New faces is all that wil put this right. At the start of the season I knew Kompany was a better midfielder than De Jong from what I'd already seen, De Jong is a seldom used squad player at beat, our midfield is so low on numbers and class it's a miracle we've done what we have.

- Mancini out in the summer if we don't finish top 6.

- Sell the likes of Robinho, Barry, Ireland, Adebayor and Wright-Phillips for good money, as they don't offer much, but are still high profile players.

- Buy players who are willing to work, and we'll get goals coming from that.

- For fuck sake, do not sit on 1-0 leads.

- Buy players who can capitalize when they are on top.

Its quite clear success is not going to happen over night. Its hard to accept but we are going to have to wait maybe a couple of seasons before we have the platform for success. Getting 4th position would surely speed up the process with what we are trying to achieve. Lets get behind the lads more than ever. Our season is far from over. Every game is a cup final from now on. At least we are in with a very good shout.

Its about time though, that the players took responsibility. Every game we need to pick up points from now. Feb/March see's us against Chelsea, Sunderland and Fulham (A) and Wigan (H). No 2 ways about it i feel we need to win at least 3 out them 4 fixtures. IMO we need to be in the ascendancy and not fall in the slipstream of the teams we are battling with. Our confidence is that brittle we will probably fall apart if we start to play catch up.

I don't doubt that second scenario hgblue. However, if that is true, it feels as if any progress we make under Mancini would only be nullified if we had yet another manager so soon. So it begs the question...why bother??

I would love to see some stability at this club. If Mourinho is to be our next manager then I would not expect him to last more than three seasons, regardless of any success we might achieve. Mainly because he seems to love the drama of falling out with anyone and everyone. And then what happens? Start again?
