What is your favourite Sit Com?

Some of these are more comedy shows than sit com.

I loved red dwarf. Its not aged well.

Peep show is exceptional for the quality of the writing.

Everything that Peter kayak was in. Royal family, early doors etc. All great.

The George and Mildred movie is on itvX at the moment. I watched it last night and it was fucking shit

I always think that the best sitcoms are those where the setting remains largely the same, almost as if you are watching live theatre.

Do you mean the original likely lads or whatever happened to?.
Both, but what happened was the better half.
Terry had a German wife, now ex. He recalls us being knocked out in 1970 WC:
”So there I was up on the sideboard singing Rule Britannia, and my marriage failed on the strength of a late Gerd Muller goal.”
Priceless.
Written by Dick Clement and Ian la Frenais to whom the BBC paid a pittance. Not surprisingly they fucked off to USA.
The demise of creatives to be replaced by useless Herbert assistant producers is at the root of the BBC’s failure in comedy.

Allo Allo by an absolute mile. Utterly brilliant.

Some also-rans such as Fawlty Towers, Only Fools, The Royle Family and The Office.

Indeed. The things with not many sets - Yes Minister/Prime Minister and I'm just old enough to remember Rising Damp.

Cheers, Frasier and MASH from US comedies are excellent over a long period.
Allo Allo and Dad's Army were always funny and had mastery of the catchphrase.

Loads of good ones, so will add a few that haven’t been suggested much yet.

Butterflies.
Dinnerladies.
Black Books.
Men Behaving Badly.
Game On.
