Irish whiskey is like paint stripper

Glenfiddich is blander than Alan Titchmarsh

Laphroaig or Penderyn for me, please

Nonsense, Irish is far smoother than scotch. Bushmills 12 year old single malt is very smooth and very nice.

I prefer a good Islay, Lagavulin or Ardbeg. Laphroaig is nice but not a patch on the other two. I can take or leave the Welsh one.

We'll agree to disagrre on the Irish debate, stony. Likewise, the Welsh issue.

On the Islay one, Lagavulin is ace, but not worth the extra money
Ardbeg is superb, but I'd have to get 4 numbers on the lottery to justify the expense over Laphroaig (pound for pound the best Islay)

Morrisons did a their own brand Islay a couple of years ago, it was excellent for the price. They own Bowmore, so I'm presuming it was that with a Morrison label on.

Dalwhinnie for me. Nice and firey first hit. Does the job everytime.

Got a nice 15 year old one in my cabinet that I might have a look at today.

Glenfidich is alright. Tried Laphroeg and it is peaty and takes some getting use to but you overcome that mid-bottle.

Tried dozens of different ones over the years but always come back to Dalwhinnie.
Have you tried Jura I find it a very good middle of the road, highland park for a good cheapy

Yes, I've tried Jura. It was fine.

I have a 'Whiskey Club' at work and the managing partner is a Scot who's well versed in the single malts. He's from up in the highlands and he's tried them all. Trust me, we've sampled pretty much every single malt priced t less than £60.00 per bottle. We don't overdo it on the price front.

As for cheap - Tesco's are selling Dalwhinnie at the moment at £25.00 - £10 reduction. A 15 year old Dalwhinnie at £25.00. You can't get much better for a quality single malt.

Tesco's own is £21
not bad at all, and a snip of all the current (ridiculous) prices
