What problem did you have today??

Finally fixed my Louisiana Grills LS1100 pellet smoker today!
I've had the big bugger for years. Worked great for a few years, then suddenly wouldn't fire up.
I figured the controller board was goosed. Only problem is Louisiana Grills no longer operates in the UK.

It's fine if you buy from Costco, as their warranty covers you for a while. (basically you just get your money back)
However, if you need genuine parts, Louisiana Grills doesn't want to know. You can try importing genuine from US sellers, but it is very expensive and then add on shipping and taxes.

So 3/4 years ago, i tried AliExpress. They sold a copy board for a very reasonable £30. Much better than the $280 plus tax/del from the US.
Unfortunately, although the grill fired up, the temps were all over the place. Cooking was near impossible. It was possessed!
So it got mothballed for a few years. (life got in the way etc)

A few weeks ago, i decided to have another go. I found another supplier who sold the controller board and all the sensors/wiring as a kit for £32 delivered. I figured the previous board was just bad luck.
I also noticed the auger motor screws, for feeding the pellets were a bit loose. Trouble is the hex bolts are bloody imperial. So i have to wait until tomorrow for my (Amazon) imperial allen keys to arrive. (just used grips to tighten up for now)
I'll use a bit of thread lock to make sure of no further loosening!

The kit arrived this morning. 15 mins later and it was up and running. It was a beautiful sight. Well it was when the smoke died down a bit!
I tested different temps and the new controller is nailing it every time. Visit to Costco tomorrow to stock up on some meat. Sometimes it's these small wins that make life so enjoyable!

Been with my bank for over 50 years and wanted to have a face to face with a bank assistant to discuss my accounts……my bank branch doesn’t have a telephone number to call and had to go automated route…….eventually got an appointment in 3 weeks
Go overdrawn by a day and it cost you, try talking to a bank representative…….no chance !

While getting supper barefooted stood on what I thought was some dropped food, bent down to pick it up only to see it was a scorpion, fortunately it was only a small one and seemed a little stunned, put it outside with my yoghurt pot bug catcher.
