I have just been on the MuEN website and seen the article that Pep is reputedly set to get rid of SEVEN City players. One of the names was Fenandhinho.
That has to be a wind up, surely.
And I just hope the player doesn't read that paper as we don't want him demotivated.

Well, like Silva he's not getting any younger and maybe the thinking is its time to sell on while they still have value in the market. FFP might have been relaxed but it hasn't gone away. Freeing up wages and providing more money for fees might see some otherwise surprising departures.

Fernandinho only has 1 yr left on his contract so it wouldn't surprise me.

Those thinking we will only bring in 2/3 are deluded. It will be at least 5 new players and a couple of promotions from the youth set up.

We need 2 full backs, a centre back, a at least 2 midfielders and at least one forward. So it could be more.

I wouldn't rule it out. When you look at Pep's template, as in the team's he's built at Barca and Bayern, do you see a Fernandinho type in there?

Both Fernandinho type players at Barca and Bayern have been reverted to centre backs - a la Mascherano and Martinez.

Don't rule out Pep trying that.

Fernandinho has been one of our better players but still the problems in central midfield remain and the modern thinking is the two holding midfielders need to be great passers who can 'break the lines'. Fernandinho, like the rest, prefers to go square resulting in the opposition regaining position and then when it does go forward the offensive player is surrounded. I lost track of the times a city player in a forward position was surrounded by three players and then conceded posession. The pedestrian football starts with the back two and holding midfielders. Im not sure it will be to Peps liking

Javi Martinez is 190 cm tall and already has played center back with Bielsa in Bilbao. I do not think he is a really good template.

Gustavo went to Wolfsburg short after Guardiola came in as he did not see a possibility to get much match time.

Fernandinho isnt anything like as good as the majority of City fans think he is. Hes a 6.5/10 player most weeks with the odd 4/10 or 9/10 thrown in. When he has one of his 9/10 games (Sevilla away) he is proclaimed on here as a midfield great. When he has a 4/10 game nobody says anything. He is a good Premier League midfielder, he is nothing like top class. He will struggle to play under Pep because his ball retention simply isn't good enough. Look at the difference between him and Modric over the 2 legs.

Agree. I like the man, but if he goes he goes, if he stays he stays. No preference either way. That position needs to be banging more goals in, as does our midfield as a whole to be truthful.
