What to do with Joe....?

We need a top class keeper I dont think Shay where we want to be nor is Joe.
There arent any decent English keepers so we have got to look abroad. Or perhaps Reina?

There is the possibility of course that Joe doesn't want to go out on loan again and wants a permanent transfer away, and this could be the stumbling block to him going back to Brum on loan.

I know McLeish has said he wants to buy him as well so it might be that whilst it would make sense for the OP's loan option B, for all concerned, I suppose the player's wishes have to be taken into account.

£12m-15m please. If Craig Gordon is an £8m keeper, then Joe is that any day. I know money isn't such an issue with us these days, but it doesn't stop us getting what a player we believe is worth. Blackburn did it with RSC and we were stupid enough to pay it. If McLeish wants him bad enough, he will pay most of his transfer budget to get him.

We have always bought expensively, and sold cheaply. Let's not do it again blues if Joe wants to go.

Joe should not be sold!
England best keeper - 20Million at least

as ive said before he needs to come back and then let the manger decide between them both pre season,if any loan deal is struck before that then somebody needs there head testing.

Craig Gordon should be our next signing.

I feel like the only person on this site who has a bad word to say about Shay and at the risk of an ear-bashing i'll explain why.

Following his transfer he didn't put a foot wrong, won us at least 5-10 points in his first few months and had me, and most other blues, totally gobsmacked with his attitude, quality and level of consistency. This season though, he has been patchy at best and for the last couple of months has looked nervous, indecisive and made mistake after mistake.

I am probably more judgemental than most now when it comes to watching Shay, but he doesn't seem to be able to go a single game anymore without badly misjudging a 'come or go' situation, fluffing an easy kick or controlling his defence, much to my annoyance!

I think his point-winning saves are becoming less frequent (the one against Burnley made me realise how few i've seen recently), clean sheets are at a premium nowadays and with Joe's massive change in fortunes I don't think there will be a better time to bring him back as our first choice keeper and make Shay push himself to get the #1 jersey back.

No other club is lucky enough to have two top quality keepers battling it out, we could and SHOULD be the first in my opinion.

Do I need my tin hat?

I'd get him back after this season, make them both fight for that number 1 shirt.

I'm glad Joe is getting game time and he's enjoying himself, he's been absolutely superb for Brum, he's getting better.

i've got a terrible feeling Arsenal are going to sign Joe Hart.Would be a great shame as i think he is the best English keeper for years

No way would the City hierarchy let him go to one of our challengers,Arsenal.
Get that CL spot and methinks Shay could be under serious pressure from Joe.
I don,t have any problems with Given, but wasn,t it Pearce who actually did something right in getting him from The Shrews ??

There could hardly be a better example of the loan system working well!!!

Birmingham have obviously got a lot out of it

CITY have been able to secure a rising young talent - but one with some rough edges - on a 5 year contract whilst installing a better 1st team option during this crucial time in our development

Hart (whether he likes it or not) has the security of a 5 year contract with the richest club in the world - a placement in which he is (has been) able to demonstrate his quality whilst not being vulnerable to the sort of exposure that could damage his confidence

It has gone well for all parties - logic dictates - 1 more loan year then back to CITY to compete for the number 1 spot - a couple of years of rotation before a new contract as the best paid goalie in the PL as the established England No.1 - while still in mid-twenties - very very young for a goalie!!

In the pre-Burnley press conference on the Official Site, Roberto mentioned that Joe Hart is a good goalkeeper and next year could be an important goalkeeper for England and for Manchester City. He was then asked to clarify and he said that Joe would probably be here next season, he didn't know, but right now it's time to worry about this season.
